Playing and developing at BS is not happening. Losing to to the top competition is what is happening at BS.
If development at BS is not happening then that should answer your question especially for the amount shelled out each year. Why else would you be there? MK's sparkling personality?

Yes they can leave, just typically they won't leave during the season because there's a complicated process. Technically there are no DA tryouts until after the DA season is over (mid June) but obviously that doesn't happen either.

Now, believe me I'm no BS fan but's here's part of their issue that is out of their control: The only other DA club in CT is OW. Players are pretty unlikely to leave OW to go to BS, distance and poor performance being two major reasons. MLS level players are a non starter; that's a demotion. You'd only get somehow who is cut. Regardless, all the other close DA clubs are in NY and players have a few to chose from that don't require treking up to CT in rush hour. Two MLS clubs plus a few solid non MLS clubs vs BS+Commute? BS will lose every time.

What BS can control is their product, which is supposed to be development. They used to be destination club. They just aren't any longer and they don't know how to compete in the different competitive set.

The guy did say he has a younger player. I can understand it being confusing to newbies. It's not like most BS parents are open with their plans or particularly helpful either.

Thanks Mr Semantics ... how did that affiliation work for BS

The actual question was NYSC a part of NYCFC ... clearly the answer is no

Winning & losing is irrelevant at the younger ages. That’s why there are no standings or playoffs. If you feel there’s no development then that’s a problem. But unless your talking about an MLS team the grass is not greener at another DA club. Coaching is pretty much at the same level.

This is true, which is why there is more emphasis on practice than games at younger levels anyway.

However, the other element is player skill -- you need a full complement of players who truly are DA quality for players to be challenged in practice and to foster the healthy competition for playing time. I think the OP is correct in at least being concerned if the better players are leaving (not the top talent that would've found a way to MLS DA) and the overall level is lowered. I'm not a BS parent so I have no sense whether this is true or not.

                    2. AC CT

So CFC is opening a branch in Stamford (split from Chelsea Piers). I know CFC are like a franchise and pop up all over. Despite all that, anyone have thoughts on the Stanford program? Coaches, kids, facilities?

Tara VanDeveer is one of the top coaches in the game and they have great academics. I wish my kid was smart enough to go there.

That split happened already so you can take a look at how the teams did this year. Prior to the split there were a few decent teams but it was variable like many CFC branches. I don't know about this year post split.
