Hi everyone,

What a mess, my son is on the U-12 Beachside DA team, and I just found out that 7 of the top 10 players of our team are LEAVING at the end of this season.

They're going to NYSC, NYCFC, Barca NY, and some back to town travel.

Now I understand the NYCFC thing, that is an MLS program and although MK doesn't suppor them (although he claims to but we all know differently) NYSC and Barca NY, and back to town travel.... this is curious to me.

Before I continue, I should say I totally understand why they are leaving. But what about those left behind? Our team is decimated ... and as I talk to parents, the common theme is that we're not practicing enough, the club doesn't respect the parents, and the kids don't like the coaching.

Well damn it man.... what am I suppose to say to that?

You have two options

1. Jump as well. Can't blame you if you do.
2. Wait it out and play the long game. There will always be a team either with BS or someone else.

At the end of the road. There's not a pot of gold. Very few of these kids will be playing college soccer and the ones that do won't be getting a lot of money. Make the best call and don't stress as it most likely ends after high school.

If you’re really a parent on the U12 team you should be very concerned with the level of play next year . The best players from that age group jumped ship last year so if the next top 7 are leaving than your best player was once the middle to bottom of the pack.

History repeats itself time and time again. This is how it was when pay for play premier became fashionable and started to drain the Town teams. From a trickle to a tsunami in a little over a decade.

Not sure I'm completely buying it (travel? Barca?) but we've been there. It does suck when a team implodes, even more so if it unravels at the last minute (which tends to be the case as families keep tight lipped). If your player is any good he'll find a home. Other clubs should be willing to take a look at a DA player. Try to find the next best option for at least the fall. Then you can see where things are lining up and possibly try out elsewhere for the winter/spring

All coaches at beachside have to follow a script. Deviate from that script and they get fined or fired. True coaches who are creative and forward thinking don’t stay at BS long. As a former team manager I can tel you first hand that is probably why your kid isn’t enjoying practice .

I'm a parent of a Beachside 06 DA boy, and I can confirm without a doubt that one of our players was playing for BARCA NY this past year AND Beachside. Terribly annoying, and the player is not coming back, rumored to be going to NYCFC or back to BARCA full time.

Well that says a lot doesn't it? The family would rather commute to Long Island over an hour then down the street to Beachside..... pretty harsh judgement on Beachside.

There can be no doubt, all the ramblings of problems at Beachside.... there is absolutely something broken there.

It can't be made up, it can't be fake news, it can't be all the naysayer reasons if this many people are jumping ship.

Part of the issue with DA - restricting outside play, particularly for younger players. It's stupid. The more they play the better. Let the parents judge if their kids are burning out. At 11-12 years old they rarely burn (oh what I wouldn't give for that energy level again!). Later in middle school then it starts to take a toll.

Yeah, well teams are supposed to practice 4 days a week also and some do not. There's rules and then there's rules. DA really doesn't care about the little ones yet. But I can see MK being a dik about it.
