I'm more intrigued by the Justin Rennicks situation. National team player seeking winter training prior to national team camp. How do the Revs justify a punishment for a kid improving on himself while it didn't cost them a dime. Odd behavior from a club dedicated to player development.

Who set up his EU tryout

Oh and another thing, he's not that good.

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostThe revs are not sending players Overseas. It is the player deciding to tryout with another club. Look back at Felix DB a few years ago when he was on the revs academy roster and then appeared on the amateur roster for Malaga in Spain. They cannot collect a transfer fee for underage players. The only way for the revs to collect their investment in academy players is with the homegrown status. If a player makes it to MLS, the revs would own his rights.
Look at Sporting KC - they identified Erik Palmer-Brown early days, loaned him out to Porto and he's doing great. Best player at CONCACAF U-20's.
He's not jetting off to Portugal behind the club's back, they are creating opportunities for him. Big difference in how the respective front offices approach player development.

The Academy was not created to OWN players, but to develop them for the National teams. The MLS Academies for their professional league. Why on earth would they want to STIFLE development? So stupid, really.
