As a soccer parent with older kids I feel like it's my civic duty to post the following every few days.
Ya'll are talking about 10 and 11 year olds. Let that sink in. Ten. And. Eleven. They still like soccer because their pals are on the team or the post game snacks are fun. Many of them probably use a nightlight or believe in Santa (totally fine and appropriate behavior for CHILDREN).
Most of them will quit soccer in middle school. A handful will play to the high school varsity level. 1-2 will play in college. None will play professionally.
Instead of enjoying this fleeting and special time in their lives, here you sit, glued to the anonymity of your keyboard, trashing and bashing TEN AND ELEVEN YEAR OLD CHILDREN.
Get some perspective and get a life. The kid you are bashing today may be a teammate of your son's tomorrow. Or a high school classmate eventually. Quit burning bridges because you have manufactured a dream that your kid probably doesn't share and almost certainly will never achieve. Enjoy this time. The drives to practice and games, the giggling friends in the backseat, team dinners, hotel pool time - because it will be over JUST. LIKE. THAT. And if you have an ounce of self-awareness, you will look back to what you are doing on this website and be very ashamed.Comment
