    HS Tryouts

How are the tryouts going at all of the high schools?

Any new changes in coaching with all of the budget cuts and staff transfers in BSD?

Southridge boys got a new head coach-Mike Davis, who I believe was at Catlin.

DS says he's a nice guy.

This may be a recycled question, but who are the good boys' teams this year with the academy taking from some of the traditional favorites. Top 10 or top 5 anyone? I'll offer mine, but it is a complete guess.

        In no order:

        Sunset
Jesuit (has to be on here)
        Woodburn (repeat in lower division)
        McMinnville
        ?????

          Boys 6A

          What about Grant?
Usually not preseason favorites, but have made it to finals 3 out of the last 5 years.

It's on the Eastside so it doesn't count. You're right though. Central should also be good. Cleveland has been consistently good at 5A for the past several years.

Dunno about Sunset. Jesuit lost 6 or 7 starters, so ranking them would be a stretch. Assuming Woodburn and Mac kids didn't want to bother with the Academy travel, then they might have retained their main players, which in-turn would keep them strong. CC could be the surprise team in my opinion.

Imagine if they had a decent coach!

Imagine what? Grant, Central and Cleveland all have decent, actually, better than decent coaches.

Westview was almost all seniors, but they always have players so they should be ok. Same with JU. Agree with the Central comment. They started a bunch of young players last year, only lost a couple guys and had some more young guys coming up.

Canby and West Linn won't sneak up on anyone this year as they are very good. SMA and Lincoln should be replenished.
Lincoln? Did you see how they did last year?

The other thing I would like to add is that my kid loves playing club and ODP and finds that fun. She does high school soccer to stay in shape and because they (coaches and her friends) would get mad at her if she did not. Otherwise it is a total waste of time and an increased opportunity for injury. If there were an academy option for girls she would be all over it and she wouldn't be letting her school down as she would have a solid excuse for not participating.
This post is spot on. Basically, it's something to do while waiting for club to start back up.

The big returners for Westview and Jesuit went to the Academy. Big losses.

These two will be good, but not at the same caliber that they have been at in the past. Look to the other teams in Metro league to have big years.

Westview and Jesuit will be reloaded in a season and back to full strength by next year.

                              6A Metro Girls

So this week it looks like a bunch of Jamboree's with the exception of Sunset at Sheldon. Next week:

                              Beaverton at Central Catholic
                              Aloha at Glencoe
                              LO at Southridge
                              McMinnville at Jesuit

                              Any early season predictions?
