Your use of the word probably proves my point. Probably does not equal certainty.

Thanks, I was just wondering. Maybe there is a meeting for all the AD's or do they just start contacting other schools?

I don't think anyone said it was an exact science. If you look over a 5 to 10 year window it's pretty obvious what teams tend to be strong and what schools tend to be weak. I think it's easier on the girls side to predict then the boys side.

The statements and claims of truth run rampant here. I work for a hs athletic dept for a top 5a school, and can say with certainty that the AD does meet with other AD's, and does request where his/her team is placed. They get to choose whether they feel their team can handle tough bracketing, medium, low, etc. Some is based on pure league, and you still see teams playing very unbalanced league games. Out of league games are a coach's pick, the AD then submits the picks, and you usually get some of your requests.
The AD's all meet so no one requests low teams just to win, they do look at past records, graduating or lost playets, etc. The better, higher teams you play, the better your score and placements later in season.

Many schools, Sherwood for one, requested a tough schedule and asked to play any 6a team that they could. Some 6a schools declined them. Sunset was one who did not, so they were matched up.

It is pretty easy to tell who will remain strong or not based on what players remain, last years record, etc. Never 100%, but works well.

I don't think anyone was saying that the coaches don't request games. I think what is more difficult is the prediction of who is good and who is not 6 months in advance, much less 2 years in advance. If there is one league, which is what people are saying, that is consistenly stronger, then I guess the only way to ensure a stronger OOC schedule is to schedule the teams in that league. But we do know that every league has a champion, so scheduling them would make for a strong OOC game. The problem is, which teams are going to be conference champions?

                Injuries

Something I haven't seen addressed much on here is injuries in high school soccer and how much more I think it affects wins and losses than in club soccer.

I am not saying that players don't get hurt in club soccer, but it seems to me that there often is a bigger drop off in talent between the first 11 and the rest of the roster in high school than club soceer. If your HS team suffers 2-3 injuries to starters, because high school has such a short season, it can take a contender right out of the running.

High school soccer = significant mismatches in size and talent between players, often substandard fields that can lead to injuries, over eager high school coaches that rush to condition too much during the 2 weeks before school starts, and refereeing that is not quite as good as in club soccer. I think all these things often lead to more injuries than you might see in a club season.

Tualatin girls 2-0 over Jesuit. Sloppy first half but Tualatin took over the second. Jesuit had some good looks at goal. Keepers on both ends made some great saves. Tualatin was too fast for their defense.

                    Congrats Tualatin!

T-wolves controlled the game throughout. Their defense totally shut down Jesuit, and the offensive was overpowering. JHS keeper was outplayed and IMHO was not very kind to her team by shouting at and blaming them for the goals she gave up. That aside, nice game THS! They are looking good to repeat as 6A champs.

                      Canby over Grant?

I would not ave called that.

                      Three rivers league looking strong

Didn't hear the Jesuit keeper yelling at her defenders, but Tualatin definitely looked good! Both goalkeepers made some great saves.

Jesuit is off to a slow start this year by their standards. Three starters haven't played a minute this season because of injuries- last night they were also without their standout center defender due to illness and lost another starting defender to injury during the game. If they can get healthy they'll still contend. if not, this may be a long season for them.

Ok, I'm not a Jesuit parent, but the statement that Jesuit was completely shut down isn't perfectly accurate. Jesuit did play a lot more defense. However, they did have some shots and with a bit better finishing, they could have put one or two in.

THS sure looks like the team to beat this year. Lots of talent.

As long as they don't have to play any Washington teams.

Given that they, along with all other Oregon state 6A teams, will be playing for the Oregon state 6A title, I think it's a safe bet they won't be playing any Washington team. I'm sure the Columbia will remain the boarder for the two states, unless you are privy to some other information.

Agreed that Tualatin is the team to beat.

Jesuit did have 3 shots that required a big save from the goalkeeper and one where the ball was cleared almost off the line. Jesuit defensive line looks to be a patchwork of Jayvee players right now. Only recognized one last night from the past two years.

Between the two teams there are at least 10-12 legitimate D-1 players (when they are healthy!). I counted 7 players from the OSSA U17 team alone out there.
