Scorpions cut some players and added players who are presumably stronger. Allegedly.

In whatever order those are your top 4.

Stars White reshuffled as well and is likely the 5th best team.

Who does that leave? FCUSA NPL & GPS NPL split up, so they are out. SPOL has to partner with Best FC just to field teams in DPL, so they are out. And that’s likely a good sign for players going to Stars White.

The only strong non-ECNL/GA team is probably Aztec.

So when the dust settles I’d say

1-4. (Order TBD) NEFC, SSS, Scorpions, Stars Blue
    5. Stars White
    6. Aztec

Probably be a big drop off after those 6. But we’ll see I guess. Hopefully they can get back out there before too long.
How does Stars Blue “add a few good players“ from the B and C teams? If NEFC or SSS did that, we’d be clowning them for it.

Can we all stop saying Stars White is a B team. SM is going to get upset and have to post more about how amazing he is.

And hour weird obsession continues. Well documented that SM does not coach 2007.

Why can't a couple B and C players improve? Maybe they worked hard last season, or got a big growth spurt this year. Should be the same way A players can't think they have a guaranteed spot from now till college.

I mentioned something like this before and was kind of slammed for it. Not clear how much Blue has improved if it is true that there hasn't been much movement from other clubs. Not even obvious that 2007s who were playing up (there aren't many to begin with) are coming down or if they are that they would be coming down to Blue.

It’s certainly possible they improved. Improving enough to displace a current player is tough. For 4 kids to do it in an off season would be a lot. Again, if any other “list team” were to improve in such a way, we’d be having a field day.

Some kids get offers for both blue and white. Because there can be no movement between the two during the year, the 2 are really treated like 2 different clubs. Not everyone chooses blue.

Agree. My point is not a knock on Blue. It's more that if the improvement in all of these clubs is mostly internal this season the theory someone suggested pages ago on this thread that next season won't look much different than last season for the top clubs is probably true despite the big DA "shake up", at least for 07's.

I’d like to know someone who got offered blue and didn’t accept to stay with white. It’s not a knock on white but it’s clear the more talented group is blue. Just calling it like I see it.

Because that wouldn’t fit all the haters agenda that stars only recruits and doesn’t develop players. Guess what—Stars develops players and some parents are patient and actually let their kids play do the talking. Imagine that ?

Preference for one coaching style vs the other can drive choice. Just look at the 06s last year. The 07 coaches are quite different. Could happen in this case too.

Also a question: if you are an 07 who has played up before and are playing down this fall but intend to play up again in the spring assume you have to stay Blue-Blue or White-White and can't switch between "clubs"?

And why the hate for recruiting? Every successful team on the planet recruits the best players they can. Go look at Man U and Liverpool and see who many players come from their youth academies. Players all have a ceiling and no coach can change that. Good coaches get players to their max and blend personalities, but they have nothing to do with the talent a player posses.

You cannot move between blue and white during the year. ECNL doesn’t allow it.

Both teams play the same schedule. The choice between blue & white really comes down to where you think your kid is going to develop more. There are many factors that go into that (coach, teammates, playing time, position, practice schedule, coach, etc).

Right. The clubs with the best reputations have to be gathering places more than development pipelines.

This doesn't mean that they don't develop. They do a very good job of development. The issue is that there are good players everywhere and at younger ages most families want to play more locally. As players age, many factors contribute to their development. Clubs have to attract the players with the best ability to get on the field, AND to the field.
