Six teams in the bracket, three games, don't get too excited that your dream matches will take place.

Some clubs see the big picture, the more commitments, the better for our brand. Other clubs, (who are typically garbage). know they will have minimal decent commits, so they try to beat a better team at a showcase so they can tout the "victory" over a top club to appease the parents. "See, we are better than them, you don't need to leave!"

I'm curious if we are going to start to see committed players bowing out of trips (such as NY or Pennsylvania in February) last minute.

"This is George Peterson. Well, uh, it's been a tough morning and we got a lot of family business to take care of, so if you wouldn't mind excusing Sloane, I'd appreciate it."

The latter clubs are clueless and rare. Clubs know who butters their bread. Kids getting recruited keeps parents happy. Showcase wins don't matter, league games do.

Also, lower teams won't typically play top ones. Teams are intentionally grouped by level so there aren't big blowouts and players don't look like they're struggling.

              Such boring and predictable comments.

The first 20 minutes of the half are starters vs starters. The second 20 are the bench vs the bench.

My D's team basically starts the uncommitted players at showcases and then there is some subbing about halfway through the halves. Other teams I have seen will give one set of players the entire first half of teh game and the other players play the entire second half. This makes sense in that you can email coaches and say about when you will be on field rather than hoping they show up for your stint.

Always always always talk to your coach about when you will be playing, then let college coaches know. They don't have time to wait around for you to play. They're used to it and appreciate the heads up.

Not in showcases. The focus is to get players in front of coaches . Yes players play to win, and winning is great, but coaches are paid to manage rosters for maximum exposure. College coaches don't care what the score is. They are there to shop for specific players.

Teams are definitely matched up based on record. FSA wont be playing Solar

There is no big picture when you have Ecnl badge. And when you all talk about this, it’s just blue. Every other stars team is mehhhh

The one issue is that ECNL does count showcase records in their ultimate seeding for the playoffs. Regular Season placement is the top decider but showcase record is factored when they seed everyone who qualifies for playoffs.

Yes but much of it is based on regular season results. It really only impacts teams right on the cusp. Of course coaches and players play to win. Losing always stinks. But a close loss to a quality competitor is better than a blowout between poorly matched teams.

The whole point of ECNL is the big picture. For those whose big picture is playing in college.

I believe they stopped factoring in showcase results at all as of last year. They also relaxed the substitution rules at showcases starting last year.
