Hell, I'd rather my son become a State Trooper than be a Fagundez or Caldwell.
Keep moving those goalposts. The original statement was that nobody will go pro.

What college did Messi, Kobe, Kevin Garnett or Bill Gates graduate from?

Granted exception rather than the rule but why such the negative energy. PATS just won the Super Bowl.

If your kid was happy playing for the Revs, then how can that be bad?

Fagundez was making $90K at age 17 - now at like $140K and only what 23? and he still has 10 years ahead of him. After that I'm guessing coaching will probably bw a big part of his future career. It won't be college coaching but I can see him making around 90K per year

Plumbers make more than that. Maybe he should learn a trade. If our KPI for soccer success is $90k a year after a ho-hum playing career then no one, and I mean no one, should be advocating for a professional soccer career.

Why would anyone want to if the earning potential for homegrowns is so limited.

Soccer has the 2nd shortest career span behind US football. If he gets 5 years he'd be doing better than average. Then what does he do?

Fagundez’ biggest mistake was hiring a family member to his agent! He would be making much more and probably somewhere else if he had someone different. On another note, show me how many 23 yo are making 170k.

What you make at 23 doesn't matter as much as what you make at 30. He won't be making that much annually at 30.

Playing soccer as a young man is fine. $90,000 to play a game is awesome. They can go to college anytime. Not everyone has to conform to your life milestone timelines

Do you honestly think DF or IA will ever earn a college degree? How much do you think they'll earn annually at 35? 45? 55?

Training facility is a big step for the club. We're going from a very functional facility to one of the best (if not the best) in the league. Stadium is the next piece we are working towards.

From what I've heard they weren't exactly "college material"

But can you go to college for next to nothing at any time? Make $90k for 3 years and then having to pay $75k/year for college down the road because they wont give you anything instead of going to college and making $60k on scholarships, ..... you made $270k of which you likely lost 1/3 to taxes and most of the rest of it to living and now you have no education and need to come up with $75k per year to go back to school ..... as opposed to coming out in 4 years with a degree and some student loan debt (if you needed to take it) .... then you could try your luck at pro soccer. Sorry the college route is far more sound to me.

It’s their lives. They can go in 10 years to community college. Who cares? It’s not like $90,000 is welfare.
