Will they be doing drug searches in Atlanta and better monitoring the players?

No, that would require them to care.

The MLS teams are not dropping their youth teams, they are dropping out of the "Development Academy" league so that they don't have play the pay2play teams (Bolts, Seacoast, and other clubs from the land of misfit toys. That's all. Not sure why that is confusing to anyone in execution or purpose.

This is the most likely scenario, however, some may drop out of the youth market altogether if MLS allows them. The Revs would be first in line to bail out. They may not run as many teams per club either, probably just focus on the older two teams. Or maybe they keep they charge something for it but give need based scholarships to those who genuinely need it.

Yes but who exactly would they play? The closest MLS club is 3-4 hours away, seems to really limit the number of games. Not to mention the only teams the revs can beat are the pay to play. Their records against real academies aren't that good.

I'm going to repost this after the Spring season. The U17 Revs team lost to Seacoast 2-1 and beat the Bolts 1-0. They may lose to both this Spring. The misfits seem to have migrated to Foxboro.

If this whole thing happens the MLS clubs will have to get more creative with competition. It's also why the idea of reducing the number of players makes some sense to help lower their travel expenses.

The only misfits at Foxboro are the coaches.

Reducing the Revs academy to just the two older age groups may actually be a really good thing, especially for the younger players. They can remain in their own clubs, which may or may not be in the DA, and actually keep developing until they are of recruiting age. Then they can make the jump over to the Revs for exposure purposes, while continuing with development through other means (private coaching, pro project type outfits, etc.). This way, they won't have lost those years of development at the U13-U15 ages, only to be replaced at the older age groups by kids who were at clubs with knowledgeable coaches.

For a lower tier MLS academy like the Revs this new MLS model would cripple them. The closest MLS clubs will beat them like a drum. They will automatically be cellar dwellers. Any hint of enjoyment from the players at the Revs will be snuffed out. Life will become even more miserable than it is now. Morale can't get any lower at this point.

They can't beat local academy teams. Get over yourself.
