Mr. Kraft isn’t exactly a community that role model when it comes to the objectification of women. This isn’t even a speed bump for the organization in the grand scheme of things. Nothing to see here, move along. It’s the Kraft way.

How do parents of “homegrown” players reconcile the fact that their children give up an education to toil away in lower leagues with virtually no hope of seeing the field with the first team?
This season homegrowns have seen the field for a total of 20 minutes with the first team. By homegrowns I really mean homegrown because only Scott Caldwell has played. It would take an Amber Alert to locate rest of their signings over the years.
It would be exciting to call your son a “pro” if it wan’t for the reality of the situation. The players that go on to college will have much better career and financial outcomes when all is said and done and those players generally develop at clubs other than the Revs.
Unless you can’t afford club soccer somewhere else why would you let your child train with the Revs?

I think this argument is as old as "Sorry your son got cut". Scales is gone. Seems like the prayers of the countless posters were answered.
That was then, this is now.
It will take time for a new REVS Academy Culture to take hold. Given the fact their 2006 team made it to the final four of MLSNext Tournament, seems they are headed on the right direction.

But the reality is the vast majority on any MLS roster aren't pro potential players. They're there to challenge themselves. The Revs are the only pro option in the area. Being on an MLS team also opens a lot of college program doors, and faster, than some others. Once the door is open the player has to sell themselves. The Revs college placement record is definitely varied but grades and other things also come into play, not just soccer.

Their refusal until recently to allow prep school kids to play in the fall didn’t do them any favors either.

The parting gift for Revs parents when their boys graduate high school is a sad clown face. They blink and their player is left without a college commitment. There’s always intramural soccer or men’s beer league soccer.
