Lol not my kid already in college (tough school) and that doesn't happen nearly as much for non revenue sports as it does for basketball and football. I went to a Big 10 school with both high revenue sports and some of those guys could barely spell their names. That's all about the moneythose sports bring in. Most non revenue athletes have to be much closer to admissions standards and some really don't bend at all.

Many schools are reevaluating where athletes and athletics fit into their overall plans in the wake of Varsity Blues, financial constraints etc. Brown and Stamford cut multiple teams and so have other schools. I think the college athletic scene will look very different in a few years especially outside of football and basketball + non Power 5 conferences. As for legacies personally I think it's crazy that 1/3 of Harvard's admits are legacy kids. No doubt many are smart but they're definitely excluding plenty of highly qualified people. I respect schools that don't bend a lot for anyone, not athletes, donors or alumni kids

Brown cut 11, had to add three back in when it became clear doing so wasn't helping their diversity numbers (esp Track and Field)

Most teams cut are smaller less popular sports, that frankly few will miss especially big donors. I don't see the big revenue sports going any time soon at the Power 5 conferences, but some schools are going D3 (like U Hartford announced this month). Soccer, especially women's soccer, should remain safe.

Many colleges were helped significantly by the federal assistance given during the pandemic. The .gov knows the education machine is far too big to fail. Most schools will be fine.

Any thoughts on the USL Academy league/USL2?

Dropping sports teams don't really save schools that much money, especially just 1-2 like some schools are doing. However it does look good and makes it seem like a school is trying to reign in costs.

With the MLS planning to launch a bridge league between the academy teams and the first team to play in the 3rd Division (below USL Championship, but same level as USL1), does anyone know what will happen with the RevsII? Will they move them into the new MLSII league, or will they keep them in USL1, or even move up to USL Championship, and then create a new team to place in the MLSII league comprised of older (U23) and fast-tracked younger academy players?

I'm so glad my kid is almost done with this and has a collge path in place. What a black hole of boken dreams and low wages.

Will class of 2022 players on the U19 team be allowed to play with the U17 team in Dallas?

Is anyone else worried about injuries to the U17 players from this local showcase this weekend against local NEP teams? Players need to be healthy for Dallas for recruiting.

It’s not against NEP teams, and It’s probably good for preparation and good for college exposure.

FSA isn't far off. They're 4-6-6 in the ECNL North division and they lost to both the Bolts and NEFC. We tied the Bolts MLS Next team and this team got smoked by the Bolts second team.

Injuries are always a risk, part of the game.
