Actually no it was the other poster who seemed to be - the one claiming that "as a coach" he's never seen a coach do that. It happens. Not often but it does and truthfully sometimes it can be accidental, especially at showcases when the whole team is trying to get time, find out if they're playing 1st half vs 2d etc.

When the Revs lose it's about development and not wins.

At showcases I guess it's about wins and not showcasing players.

Must have been a lot of "development " going on 😉

              Shameful

Here is where each Revs age group stacks up in the MLS Next standings. Spoiler alert, they're behind other local MLS Next teams at every level.

U13 - No team entered (shameful)

              U14 - 7th

              U15 - 3rd

U16 - No team entered (shameful)

              U17 - 7th

              U19 - 6th

Wow thats all pretty bad. I don't have an issue with them not doing u13, it costs them $ to train kids while the non MLS clubs charge to cover costs. Twelve years d is very young. However not having u16 is pathetic. That is a critical period for development and seeing if a player has something special

The U17 team is really a combined U16/U17, although I'm not sure what the split of 05/04 is on that team, anyone? They figure if a U16 doesn't have what it takes to hang with kids a year older, they most likely aren't going to make it to their USL team or become a homegrown, so best to cut them sooner rather than later (plus, save money on developing a player they don't feel will make it). This is where "losses due to development" come in, as I would think if they did have an all U17 team, it would be doing better in the standings. By giving roster spots to a group of younger players, while they may have a tougher time competing with pure 04 teams, those 05s should be developing faster having to compete with kids a year older.

U17 used to be combined U16/17; they only split it more recently after GDA did it. Really those younger, supposedly high potential players should be challenged by older players. it is good for actual development even if it mean a weaker performance.

If the Revs could attract the best players a mixed age group wouldn't be an issue.

If a player is cut from the Revs, are they free to go to another MLS academy, or are their rights still owned (whether from already playing in the Revs system or due to living in the 75 mile radius around Gillette)? If rights are still owned, is the club good about releasing players wanting to transfer to an MLS academy elsewhere?

Adding u13s might cost them about $150k per year. Kraft’s net worth is $6.9 Billion. He makes $150k roughly every HOUR. In fact, he makes enough to fund the entire youth academy in one day.

You can go to another MLS Next club. Get out of the Revs while you can.

He just doesn't care nor is he a soccer guy. He bought the franchise purely as an investment and only cares about the first team. Even there he spends the minimal amount necessary; he's holding on to it like a slumlord, waiting for the market to take off and sell at a nice profit. He'd drop youth teams in a heartbeat if he could. It costs him money with no substantive return. He prefers to invest that money elsewhere.

yes once you are released you are free to go elsewhere. if you're still in that club there are ways to move but it involves a lot of paperwork and cajoling. Needless to say clubs don't want to see a quality player go.
