I wonder how the recent castaways are doing now that they’ve been banished to lower league purgatory?

A $25k scholarship that reduces the cost of attendance at a college or university makes a person’s investment in an education even more attractive.
Lifetime earnings increase for those with undergrad and grad degrees. Colleges teach students how to think critically. Studies within a major can build marketable skills.
Not having a degree can be a barrier to entry to even entry level jobs.
I believe more students should pursue a trade. I’m all for kids that aren’t enthusiastic about school becoming electricians, plumbers or tin knockers.
USL soccer isn’t a trade. USL soccer doesn’t come with a diploma. USL soccer might help you get a job at Wegotsoccer, but having “soccer player” on your resume above your high school education is a ticket straight to the drive-thru window.

The USL team is still in its infancy, so hopefully given time, they will start giving some of those younger players first team opportunities. I would think they would really need to move that team from USL League1 to the USL Championship level before that happens, otherwise it will be too big of a jump in competition for most of those players to handle. As it is now, the team seems to be just an extension of the academy program and I just don't see many of those players being able to break into the first team without a very progressive coach willing to sacrifice the minutes of established players.

A look at the charts for the 2020 season shows the Revs coming in dead last in the league for minutes given to players age 20 or younger (with a total of 0 minutes):

This is an embarrassing revelation and, unfortunately, the article is worth the read.

I hope the new Director RB puts an end to the Pro Project scam.
Those guys been using the Revs name to market their pick up games scam for too long.

There are several graduating Revs players that need to take a PG year for any hope of being recruited.

At any rate, everyone knows the Revs currently have neither the best players nor best training in the region. Maybe the top 5 players on each team deserve to be there, but politics dictates the remainder of the teams because of the bare minimum put into actually scouting players. I wouldn't doubt there are teams out there that could beat the Revs. Happens quite regularly for a few of their age groups.

Revs "Academy" is mandated for the MLS pro team to exist
- they expend the minimum they had to (least expenditure in all Academies)
- the least amount of age groups
- least financial investment in Director: hence the sub-par abusive ignoramus Scales for a decade
- least academy players to go pro - because they know the academy is not qualified to train at that level - USL 1 is an extension of U19 - They recruit from a qualified training pool - NOT the Revs ACademy
They don't even mention NE Rev scores, players, games or ANYTHINg on any local radio stations.
Why?
starts with K and ends with raft.
