-are you suggesting that people can't be happy if they aren't travelling year round for girls club soccer?

-Oregon Stinks in Girls Soccer is a legacy or tradition, not quite a revelation.

-Oregon doesn't even have 5 or 6 girls in the history of the state that have ever made the USWNT even for a cup of coffee.

-Epic travel will change our reality, how is that going so far?
Sounds like it's fun & happy from what I hear, which is really moving the needle.
My kids play travel sports and love them but love high school sports more. Granted, their high school has good sports programs full of club players so it’s high level. If we went back to the days before all the club sports and when sports were more connected to high schools, I’m betting all the kids and families would be happier. Everyone would also have more time and money.

We just went to Surf Cup and had a great time and the kids were thrilled to get to play and a good number of the girls have had follow up conversations with college coaches that they are very happy about.

But that is all just a distraction. Wasting money to travel and play soccer and have fun is misguided and we will Never do it again.
You really didn't have fun. Your kid didn't enjoy soccer. You are just wasting money. Stop traveling for soccer! There is plenty of soccer to play here in state.

I am all for holding our systems to higher standards. Saying what we are doing is not good enough is a good mechanism for getting improvements. Just like being a driven athlete, you always should be improving.

There are some good coaches who are doing good things with players and have in the past in Oregon.
for our population size we do very well

You were brainwashed into thinking you had fun. No college coaches are interested in kids from Oregon. You have been fooled again. When the rent comes due and you can't pay it, you can thank travel soccer for using all your money up.

There is not plenty of soccer to play in the state. Why would you want to play the same few teams year after year after year. BORING!!

Funny you say that when a certain 3 teams have been playing each other 2x for the past 7 months and call it development. Sounds like a scam to me.

League season: doesn’t matter what affiliation you are in you are still playing the same teams over and over.

Tournament/showcase: all top teams regardless of affiliation are playing teams from around the country or region.

Probably didn’t know that but that’s why you should always know, 75% of what your ecnl coach tells you is BS. Give it time, you ll figure it out.

Remember when all the good teams were in ecnl back in the day. Crossfire united had to play the same teams over and over and every team was in dead last with some teams not scoring more than 4 goals all year. (Was said to be development but they got out developed and out committed by several Oysa teams tHay year)

Luckily most of them left last year and at least they had a chance but playing B and C teams calling it elite.

                So funny.

ECNL has played the same teams twice because California and Washington are even slower than we are to reopen youth sports. These games were moved up because of the high school season being moved. Has nothing to do with the league, just the current situation. And how many different teams have the Oregon teams played. Oh, the same old teams they've played for the last several years. Yawn!

Preach. Save your cheddar for better things like a jet ski or something hot like that.

Honestly, soccer the pandemic really hurt soccer across the board but ECNL teams played some games and also went to Surf Cup and ECNL tournaments in Phoenix and soon in Houston. OYSA teams are playing league games now and will go to Vegas tournament in March. High school starts soon. Everyone is doing what they can in a bad situation. No need to bash either side.

Agree. They’ll all be on the high school pitch playing with and against each other soon. First time in several years now that Thorns Academy are all allowed to play hs and not just the private school kids. Only way to truly compare the players is to get them on the pitch together. Too bad it will be a severely shortened season with who knows what for Playoffs.

Honestly, soccer the pandemic really hurt soccer across the board but my dd local club team played some games and also went to Surf Cup and a US Club tournament in Phoenix--hopefully another one in Houston if HS Soccer doesn't conflict.

Some other local club teams I know of are playing league games now and will go to out of state to a Vegas tournament in March if HS Soccer doesn't conflict.

Our priority High school starts soon, which is AWESOME!!

Everyone is doing what they can in this challenging situation.

No need to bash either side so I fixed it for you without the silly labels.

How will the optional one week play off deal work this year?
