Geez Mom. Why do you fall for their trap every time.
Hook

& Sinker
Nobody said the freshmen played the entire game, just that they did play. Get over our loss and get out your checkbook, my tuition payment is due next week at the University of Jesuit.
You act is if our family crest is being challenged here.

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostSunset scored on 2 set plays (headers off corners), a beautiful cross and a break-a-way by a freshman striker/mid. It was 2-0 at half, Aloha came out and put one in about midway and Sunset finished with 2 unanswered.
It was Sunset 1-0 at half......Header from a corner kick
2-0 was off a cross that led to a scrum in the goal mouth where replacement keeper and defender took each other out and player poked it away.
2-1 off Shot from left by Aloha player that deflected in. Sunset keeper made a great attempt and even got fingers on it even with the deflection going the wrong direction
3-1 off poor freek kick by Aloha at half line to center back who played it into Sunset player and she was off to the races. Poor play by keeper on shot also.
4-1 Another header off a corner.... Good Goal but again poor defending on corner and effort by keeper...
Game was closer than score reflects but Sunset also deserved the win. They outplayed Aloha as a whole. Not real pretty though.

Thurston is a very interesting team. They have a lot of skilled players. They don't get a lot of props because they're not a Portland team. But they move the ball around well and they work well off each other. I think overall they might be the best team in the state, but it's whose playing the best at the end that counts.

Sherwood had more shots, more chances, but were consistently fouled in the box. Tigard's defenders love to tangle legs or step on toes and then literally collapse on the threatening player. I think when you see the same two defenders "tangle and trip and fall" (yea, whoops, not!) on the strikers 7 times for one and 3 times for the other, it is clearly purposeful and not a "whoops, accident, no foul" type play.
Sherwood got one PK out of the fouls, the rest of left uncalled with the ref commenting after the game, when questionned, that sometimes the girls trip on themselves or another player and it is not really a foul. Apparently despite the frequency, and the fact the defender was only clumsy, ha, when the striker was about to shoot. lol. Tigard better learn real non fouling defense before they play Tualatin. Get a good ref and Tigard is done.
I ref hs games for boys in the PDX area and all of those trip and tangle actions would have easily been PK worthy box fouls with a good ref. You cant purposely or even accidentally take a striker who is threatening to score down on the ground and not be called. Bad ref job.
