Sunset 1, Sheldon 0

Sunset had many opportunities but could only capitalize on one. They controlled the majority of the game. Sheldon had a couple looks but Sunset's defense shut them down on every attempt. Most of the play was confined to the middle third but when it broke out, Sunset's offensive threat was clearly the better of the two.

Elite 8 Prediction

South Salem at Jesuit - Saxon's have made a good run but I think it will end Saturday. The Crusaders have dealt shut outs in their last 6 attempts and Saturday will be no different. SSHS 0, JHS 2.

Tualatin at Southridge - THIS will be Tualatin's first true test and I'm afraid the Metro League opponent will prove too mighty. THS 1, SRHS 2

Thurston at Westview - This will also prove to be a test for both teams. Thurston will dish out all the Wildcats can handle and might just dish out a Metro League defeat. THS 1, WHS 0

Sunset at Lakeridge - Lakeridge is on a run but they will stumble when faced with a top Metro League opponent. Sunset's offense will prove to be over the top and their defense will hold as it's done all year. SHS 1, LHS 0

Final 4: Jesuit, Southridge, Thurston, Sunset

South Salem 2 - Grant 1. This was about as tight a game as you can have. Grant went up with the first goal 1-0. South equalized with about 15 minutes left to play. Then the teeth gnashing and strong play started both ways. Finally with 18 seconds to play, South put away the winning goal.

Great analogy, thanks.

Getting back to the bracket if I could. I had my own going and 2 teams have pleasantly emerged that I hadn't seen coming. Southridge and Lakeridge. Great job teams! I've seen Southridge play once and they seemed very solid but have never had a chance to see Lakeridge. Can someone comment? Are they a sleeper just now awakening? Could one of these teams play a spoiler in the coming week? They play Tualatin and Sunset (respectively), could one of the heavy hitters be going down? Would love to hear some commentary on what is shaping up to be quite a story!

Lakeridge was finding themselves the first 6 games of their season and then out of no where the team really pulled it together to come back and claim 2nd in league. They have some very strong club players and are a speedy group of girls. The Sunset v. Lakeridge game should be fun to watch since last year Sunset bumped them off in the first round of playoffs in pk's. I'm sure Lakeridge will come out with a chip on their shoulder and be ready to play hard, not to say the Sunset won't, their obviously a good squad. Don't know as much about Southridge, sorry :(

Surprised nobody has commented about the upset of Wilsonville over #2 Summit (5A). Or the game of Sherwood (#1) vs Wilson. The Sherwood team played well but Wilson certainly gave them a great game to take it to overtime.

Lakeridge is pulling it together when it counts!

The Wilson girls played with a ton of heart. We have been up and down all season and proved how strong we can be when "on". Sherwood was tough offensively, but I felt our defense did a better, stronger job. I would say Sherwood did better offensively, having quite a few more shots than we did, and more on frame ones. Defensively Sherwood needs to get stronget or they won't continue on. Their defense looked better at season start when I saw their game vs Summit. They gave up a stupid penalty and we capitolized, then the same happened against us in OT. They were the only one to score outright on a great shot by a girl a recognize from the old LOSC Defeaters team. All in all, it was a tough game and I think Wilson played amazing. We had a few chances when Sherwood's defensr collapsed with bad communication or waiting too long to clear it, I just am bummed we could not take advantage.

Forgot, anyone have details on Wilsonville Vs Summit? How did that all play out? Heard Summit missing key players to injury?

Wilson did play great!! I would agree the defense was outstanding, especially #18 and #20. and no, I am not a parent of any of the team. too bad the coach chose not to have the freshman defender play the entire season, would have made a big difference. again, not a parent, so don't bother thanking mom or dad, just know how things could be at Wilson.

Not a parent of kids on either team. No missing key players. Summit had been w/out a key player (former POY) but she was back for at least 4-5 games. Paper reported that Summit had at least 30 shots but only 2 goals and approx. 11 plus off bars. Coach's quote: "Not our worst game but certainly our most unlucky." Been there; done that. Wilsonville did what it needed to do and big props to them. 8-7 pk's is a tough way to go down. I do NOT think Wilsonville played to get to pk's, but it sure makes sense for some teams to go that route. You just never know what will happen and I find it hard to find fault with a team that does that if there is a clear mismatch.

Can anyone tell me how to find out where their might be a listing of where a Metro team player has committed? I was wondering where a few players on the Metro teams have given verbal commits? Any help would be much appreciated.
