Right because that same issue is coming to kill us on the girls side. I dont think a league system can be blamed but I do think the agendas, political favoring and nepotism is what is allowing other countries to surpass us.

For girls the European model is completely useless here in the US, due to college. The current US model is certainly far from optimal with competing leagues. US Soccer has to start over. Get DA and ECNL together. Have regional teams that meet once a week and then play other regions monthly. All regional teams supersede both DA and ECNL teams and games. These players are then thoroughly followed by US Soccer as they work closely with DOCs and coaches of these clubs. It will cost more money, but if are looking to develop the best at least this makes more sense than current model. Obviously NTs will continue but with this pool of regional players, they can have a better look at potential players and this will keep teams more fluid and I feel better developed players.

Won't happen. They tried once and ECNL told them to pound sand. Not saying they weren't in the right to, that's for someone else to decide. But it won't happen.

ECNL is a private entity and has no incentive to. Basically, DA needs ECNL more than ECNL needs DA.

That being said, I am advocate the same as you, sadly it won't happen.

Of course not. There is no money to be made doing that so no one will do it. Why would they?

Then on the men's side the MLS teams may pull out of BDA so that throws that whole system in the crapper.

It does make a lot of sense, but I do hear you about ECNL. But, I think if there was some kind of crossover game schedule, that might work. Christian Laver is his most recent Soccer America Q&A said he hopes we can have games between the two and would like too. Eventually, there will be some kind of amicable get together.

no there will not, these leagues will simply run their course than they will be re branded and spit out for us to gobble on until the next big thing comes along.

nail on the head. the US is a privileged system.

Haha, i think your revisionist history is about 180 degrees off. GDA basically told ECNL that their services were no longer needed and that USSF would not work with them. USSF dropped the bomb on them less than a month after their fall meeting when ECNL Sanford was going on back in 2016. USSF was simply drawing a line in the sand and trying to take no prisoners. They wanted all the power and all of the money and nothing else. No plan and no care for quality certainly.

How long is everyone going to keep repeating this rumor? Where is the evidence of this? This has been said since last year - since it's so known, when is BDA gonna lose its MLS backing????

See the pilot program this year in the U18/19 DA age group and DA Cup changes. MLS is pulling away but appeasing USSF for one final year (or two tops). Their will be less interaction between tier I and tier II (that is A and B leagues) across more age groups next year. That alone will make many tier II kids choose other clubs and HS soccer as their simply is no reason to miss out on that, pay a ton to play, and still end up in a B league (or lower). Furthermore, why should MLS continue to take direction from USSF when they pay for everything and USSF clearly does not have a clue as to what they are doing.

The writing is on the wall. U19 is a pilot program and either they roll it out to other teams, making non MLS clubs much weaker, or the MLS pulls out together.

Funny thing about rumors, they often are true.

No way that happens. Each league wants to hoard their own talent, and losses only bring more skepticism to the losers. It's a business decision because there's nothing to be gained from it.
