No belly-aching. But, if we go down the path suggested, we lose the ability to whine about the results after.

but the "old guard" got the job done last time!!!!!!!! would it be logical that they could do it again????? instead of rolling the dice with a new squad?????

        We'll find out soon enough.

But, if the rest of the world has caught up technically and you are using older players because the new ones aren't up to speed, eventually that will run out. Unless you are advocating bringing the same squad again...and again...and again.

Here's a little news: people age.

If they win this will be the last win for team USA. Enjoy it.

Yes there are weaknesses in the younger groups but that can't be put entirely on the shoulders of ECNL. USSF is the one scouting, selecting and running NT programs. This didn't just sneak up on them. They could have acted much earlier and their solution (current GDA) isn't going to fix it.

Sounds like ECNL covering their tailpipe.

Make a mess of the program, then blame someone because they've come in to try to clean it up too late for your liking.

yes but woman age differently than men. Where men on average reach the physical maturity in their early 20s woman on average reach their physical maturity late 30s.

We all know there are always exceptions the above statement are general averages.
Hopefully WNT can pull this off again, i think we are bringing the best team we can put together....we will see.

What do the ecnl or the gda have to so with winning world cups? They are about competing with each other for players and dollars

Countries about winning world cups invest in ALL the youth and pick the best that emerge. Not saying one is better or worse but they have different goals.

Whomever is responsible for the development of the players currently vying for spots on a WC roster is who as at fault if the development of said players are so poor they are stuck using the old guard.

It would be cool if we had an overall organization tasked to find those best players from wherever they are so they could get them into the pipeline. Sadly, we have been left with an organization who did a terrible job of developing those players, who are trying everything in their power to discredit the organization who is trying do exactly what you are asking. Instead, they push wins at whatever age and think that's the cure-all.

In the USA, the players are responsible for financing and investing in their own development with the one exception being the boys mls academies. Any world cups won here will be in spite of these country club leagues, not because of them.

I wish we had a way to reach as much of the populace as possible. And, if they can't afford it, to offer scholarships to allow them to play.

No money in that so forget it. This is what soccer looks like in a free market financed by youth players.
