Why is it so hard for you to understand that we can both be a great nation at times and at other times complete a-holes. I love New England but if the entire nation was like the mid-west bible belt or the South (esp: Florida) I would probably opt to take advantage of living elsewhere. Americans don't need to feel "guilty" per se but they do need to educated and objective about how the rest of the world views us. You may hate Obama's foreign policy but his selective isolationism has improved the way other people in other countries feel about us. Our foreign entanglements have created Daesh. Now we have to figure out how to stop what we created. For a little historical context check to see what GW said about foreign entanglements. And, to pre-empt your expected retort that you can't view the current world by 18th century standards, I will throw this out: fine, so we can accept the 2nd amendment as unilateral right to own guns but not GW's advice on international relations. You can't have historical context both ways.....

America is never an A hole. that's is just unpatriotic and an ignorant based mindset. You do not know why decisions were made if you are not part of the process, or in the room. You can only speculate based on what was recorded, and the source reporters may have had there own agenda. Besides that, as I said, is it applicable to today ?

The whole picture is such that America has done more, and does more that any other nation on earth. It is a beacon of hope. Even with the warts and pimples, it is head and shoulders above. No other country has our Constitution, with our Bill of Rights.

As i see it about thirty percent of adults are refractory to things like facts, evidence, and reason and are purely motivated by their id.

So lets just call it what it is. Honestly she cant carry a tune in a bucket and the only demographic she appeals to as an entertainer is the one she will be singing for tonight. Thats the protection racket. She is being propped up and has access to things beyond her natural talent, just like the excessive club fees some of the "entitled" pay drives the sick fantasies that little Mia is a star.

As I walked past other fields for years I was appalled at the bile so many of you parents of girls seemed to hold for the good players then. You know who they were. The ones who clearly had the talent and the drive to excel. The bile on this and its ancestor boards for years about a number of young women who went on to major colleges, national teams at any age, and now apparently professional team. As a male who played HS and a little college ball getting only so many minutes that i can say they were more than zero, and the parent of boys, one who left the game during HS to focus one other interests and another who played at he college level with a whole lot of minutes and other goodies, I feel I have enough experience to weigh in on this.

The boys side of soccer had the usual levels of resentments and stuff that we see in life in general but the girls side had anger, resentments, sheer hatred in levels that were toxic. FRANKLY IT FELT AS TOXIC AS THE POLITICAL DISCUSSION WE SEE ON THIS BOARD AND ELSEWHERE.

Parents of girls who played alongside your daughters who are our friends suffered through this and they weren't the parents of the stars (oh and i don't mean the team stars literally lol) but at least semi-balanced and not there to hate those who were obviously going further in the game than their own daughters.

So how many of our tax dollars are being used to maintain this fighting force that is essentially protecting corporate assets all over the world? DO you nutter5s really think if we shrank our military to the strongest on earth but of saner breath that the terrorists would be crawling in your windows with knives in their teeth? its not arabian nights out there.
What if we shrunk military budget by 50% and use a 10% slice for better homeland defense in case they do show up off our coast as well as better screening and monitoring at borders etc?

Consider that if these corporations could not externalize their security costs to the us military and therefore payed for by our tax dollars....they would decide perhaps to pay for their own....think of the stimulation in jobs....or if that was too expensive maybe it would seem more cost effective to bring assets and jobs back within our borders....wow think about that.
