When the Democrats won control of the House in 2006 and Frank became chairman of the Financial Services Committee the following year, one of the first measures he helped pass imposed tougher regulations on Fannie and Freddie and prevented them from taking on too much risk.
“It’s the Republican line. They say it happened on my watch, but my watch began in January 2007,’’ Frank said. “The mistake I made was a nonoperational one — I wasn’t in power. From the day I became chairman, I think we did everything we could.’’

I know what I know, I know how I feel, and I know I am doing what is best for my family. I don't own a gun, I am not rich, I am not from "privilege" (whatever the hell that means), and while I didn't grow up in a diverse racial-environment, I don't consider myself racist (nor do any of my Muslim, black, Oriental, Jewish, Hispanic, or American Indian friends...and we've talked a lot about it). I don't even hate women...I'm actually particularly fond of them.
I don't think all Muslims are terrorists. I don't think all blacks are thugs, or that all Hispanics are leeches. I have LGBT family members.
//////////////////////////
What I do feel is that I am made to feel guilty for hundreds of years of sorry things that I had nothing to do with.
I do feel that we have become completely intolerant of opposing views.
I do feel that we have too much federal government - not necessarily only assistance, but overall control in my life.
I do feel that if everyone here really tries hard enough, they will find something offensive about literally everything.
I do feel we have become completely intolerant of other views.
I do feel we are too coddling today, and we are hell-bent on trying to make it easier for everyone, instead of working hard for your rewards.
I do feel you get out what you put in, so if you don't work hard, you don't get rewards.
I do feel that some see every black person and think 'thug', and cross the street.
I also feel that if I see some neo-Nazi punk, I think 'thug' and cross the street. Guess what...if I see some other non-white *sshate, I think 'thug' and cross the street.
I accept that some have been dealt a crappy hand in life. Some more than others. I also accept that your socio-economic background can make it tougher to get ahead. I don't feel that is split on racial lines. No matter your background, someone else has it better, and someone else has it worse. Deal with it. I grew up looking at the rich kids in my town, wanting to be like them. Did I begrudge them? No...I loved my family and know how hard my parents worked to get us ahead, so I was thankful for what I had and used it as motivation to become successful today. I didn't do it by getting handouts, by having someone pay for my college.
I will not apologize for who I am.
The only point to expand would be that atrocities of enslaving 10 million africans and then setting them loose created a completely skewed economy that has yet and will never be overcome unless compensation is provided.
I am a holocaust survivor and the amount of support provided AFTER (no one helped us when we were deported or murdered) was significant. There were even reparations (for some). The remaining enslaved population was assisted into the mainstream, either because all the rest of the population was as impoverished, or due to agency assistance.
Not so here. Drive anywhere in an inner city and you see the results of this devastation.
My recommendation is to provide reparations in the form of free quality pre-school, elementary, and free college admittance along with elderly care.
This would drastically change the face of the US and us all for the best

what a bunch of nonsense - how many trillions spent since 1964??
Tax the rich feed the poor until there are no rich no more - and I would add middleclass.
The middleclass which for the first time is now a minority in the country - under the traitor Obozo's leadership. He is more worried about isis feelings than the citizens of this nation. Worst president ever - yes worse than carter.
