Look at photos of the Arab nations from the 60's and 70's and you will see people and places which were open and and western in appearance, albeit slightly conservative, as you would deem it, but they also had elements of progressiveness.
There is now an entire generation raised in hate for the west and anything non conforming to their radical ideals. I fair to understand how each and every women's and gender rights groups worldwide is not uniting against this scourge. And the same for moderate and liberal Muslims themselves, but the fear they face is understandable.Comment
