And why would a business consciously decide to understaff ? Could it be because of regulations, taxes, and wage dictation by outsiders ?

Ever been out to eat in New York City ? Rarely any lines at all. If you have a reservation, you are in. No reservation, all full, you walk to the next restaurant. All because of supply and demand. So many people, so many choices. Less restriction most of the time means increased revenue.

You are clearly not from New England. Go look him up on baseball-reference.com

Only a stupid business person would make a major business decision based on paying employees an extra dollar an hour each year. That is one cup of coffee, one beer, one sub. Or perhaps at Best Buy the sale of $1,500 fridge or TV. Maybe stupidity is why 80% of all new businesses fail.

If you think that a business person would be " stupid" for making decisions about the business they own, you are entitled to your opinion. However that is the RIGHT of the business owner. Maybe taxation, policies, regulations and intrusion by Government , which are imposed upon the owner are responsible for more damage to the business than the owner's " stupidity ". And they may be a high contributor to his actions.

Thanks for confirming that you were referencing a sub .500 pitcher. Dude went 14-16 in an eminently forgettable career. You are a moron.

Hey dopey, if the business is thriving it is a no-brainer to hire more staff to keep up with demand. However, you need to manage the bottom line in the case where the top line is flat or declining.

P.S. If you are working in a sub shop, you have minimal skills. Try learning something in demand and then you can expect to get paid for your skill. Until then, make sure you put the correct cheese on the bread.

The answer to " high fructose " corn syrup is just not to consume it. But of course 60 % of all SNAP benefits are spent on sugar laden products, and Obama added 10 million people to the program . Should we blame their obesity on him ? Should we blame the increased likelihood of health problems on him ?
You are crazy. $1 for 1 Gallon of orange soda (= 1 gallon of high fructose corn syrup, water and orange dye) or $1 for an orange. How would you fill your basket for a family of 5?

Lib or Con, this is a poor person dilemma financially and health wise. If not fixed, the health decay of the people eating this garbage that is subsidized by the gov is an even worse exacerbation.

and on top of this, they poison the water system in these areas.

The business owner is dependent on the decisions of his customers. If I see high turnover, or low morale of employees I take my money elsewhere. I know business owners who b itch about taxes and yet still manage to drive a $75,000 car and buy a McMansion. The vast majority of intrusion of government is done at the local level with your friendly neighbor from the zoning board, conservation commission or building department.

And what skills do most rich people have - the majority are either in the right place at the right time or a member of the lucky sperm club.

Saw an interview with trump supporter Ernie Bosch JR yesterday. Best argument for obligate vasectomy once a rich father hits 100 million or so. Aggressively stupid and clueless, he maintained the "wonder if it all" look of someone surrounded by yes men.

Aggressively stupid. Describes many of the "children of" people who have made a pile that I've been unfortunate to meet.

                          too funny!
NYC has the same taxes, regulations and wage dictation!

They have the demand and provide the supply - NH does not have enough of supply. Need to Ship some mexicans there. oh wait. What about syrian refugees?

Does lack of common sense run rampant on the left? Why obviously it does because these two can't grasp the idea that politicians lie to the people to gain and maintain power. Oh well.

At the Democrat debate the other night .....

"Maria Elena Salinas played a video clip from 1985 in which then-Burlington Mayor Sanders said some nice things about Fidel Castro. This is how Salinas set up the clip: "In 1985, you praised the Sandinista government and you said that Daniel Ortega was an impressive guy. This is what you said about Fidel Castro...."

Judging from the reaction to the clip and Sanders' response, you can expect Sanders to lose the Florida primary on Tuesday.

Salinas followed up the clip with a loaded question: "In South Florida there are still open wounds among some exiles regarding socialism and communism. So please explain what is the difference between the socialism that you profess and the socialism in Nicaragua, Cuba, and Venezuela."

Sanders began, "Well, let me just answer that" — and then didn't, explaining instead that he opposes the Monroe Doctrine and 70 years of the U.S. overthrowing democratically elected leaders in Latin America. Salinas tried again: "Senator, in retrospect, have you ever regretted the characterizations that you made of Daniel Ortega and Fidel Castro that way?"*
