Maybe taxation, policies, regulations and intrusion by Government , which are imposed upon the owner are responsible for more damage to the business than the owner's " stupidity ". Hey dopey, if the business is thriving it is a no-brainer to hire more staff to keep up with demand. However, you need to manage the bottom line in the case where the top line is flat or declining.

P.S. If you are working in a sub shop, you have minimal skills. Try learning something in demand and then you can expect to get paid for your skill. Until then, make sure you put the correct cheese on the bread.

The business owner is dependent on the decisions of his customers. If I see high turnover, or low morale of employees I take my money elsewhere. I know business owners who b itch about taxes and yet still manage to drive a $75,000 car and buy a McMansion. It is always hard to tell the age of a conservative because they are reading out of the same playbook for the most part but you can never tell if the ignorance is feigned to be provocative or just plain ignorance - interesting that they don't argue that North Korea is a Democracy given the formal name of the country - but that wouldn't fit into their agenda.
