I read he brought it because he feared a mass shooting. So we have to believe a guy who can't even CARRY a gun without accidentally discharging it like the numb nuts that he is will be the one who morphs into John McCain and saves the entire theater with his pistol when the bad guys come with their ar-15s.

No time now for exact figures but white guys in movie theaters have killed far more than the terrorists post 911 in the USA. True. Mayors are worried about terrorism and they should have metal detectors at the Cineplex if they really want to be safer.

I should add that I've never felt as safe walking the streets of our major cities as I do today and I have been doing that since the mid-70's.

+1 but I will add I've told ex lax just that many many times over the years.

Along the same lines I mentioned a few days ago that leader Ryan can introduce a stand alone bill for veterans services.....any time he is actually serious about providing additional services to veterans. Same diff. Can't blame White House for not doing the job of congress.

But I seem to recall hearing that the GOP agenda has been to just oppose OBama. That's why trumps winning. Their own people got sick of what they have been doing.

Remember, trump told us he gets along well with Nancy pelosi and Harry Reid. I must confess I'm surprised I didn't think the right wing voters would embrace bipartisanship this soon. or do you think they don't know what they are getting?

I just read where trump committed to be politically correct if elected. I wonder if he keeps going if there will be buyer's remorse?

Remind me. Who controls both chambers and has for over 4 years? How long have veterans services been an issue?

I've read some of the details. These two people in question COUNTERFEITED official California state identification cards. The male also made offers to BUY fetal tissue (a crime) and persistently offered to do so even though no one responded to his request.

It's open and shut. We all know, or should, what grand juries do. So when they found. O reason to indict planned parenthood, could they IGNORE an obvious crime that they see in front of their eyes?

        In Texas too. Loving it.

How the US public was defrauded by the hidden cost of the Iraq war

          Michael Boyle

George Bush sold the war as quick and cheap; it was long and costly.

When the US invaded Iraq in March 2003, the Bush administration estimated that it would cost $50-60bn to overthrow Saddam Hussein and establish a functioning government. This estimate was catastrophically wrong: the war in Iraq has cost $823.2bn between 2003 and 2011. Some estimates suggesting that it may eventually cost as much as $3.7tn when factoring in the long-term costs of caring for the wounded and the families of those killed.

The most striking fact about the cost of the war in Iraq has been the extent to which it has been kept "off the books" of the government's ledgers and hidden from the American people. This was done by design. A fundamental assumption of the Bush administration's approach to the war was that it was only politically sustainable if it was portrayed as near-costless to the American public and to key constituencies in Washington. The dirty little secret of the Iraq war – one that both Bush and the war hawks in the Democratic party knew, but would never admit – was that the American people would only support a war to get rid of Saddam Hussein if they could be assured that they would pay almost nothing for it.

The most obvious way in which the true cost of this war was kept hidden was with the use of supplemental appropriations to fund the occupation. By one estimate, 70% of the costs of wars in Iraq and Afghanistan between 2003 and 2008 were funded with supplemental or emergency appropriations approved outside the Pentagon's annual budget. These appropriations allowed the Bush administration to shield the Pentagon's budget from the cuts otherwise needed to finance the war, to keep the Pentagon's pet programs intact and to escape the scrutiny that Congress gives to its normal annual regular appropriations.

With the Iraq war treated as an "off the books" expense, the Pentagon was allowed to keep spending on high-end military equipment and cutting-edge technology. In fiscal terms, it was as if the messy wars in Afghanistan and Iraq were never happening.

More fundamentally, the Bush administration masked the cost of the war with deficit spending to ensure that the American people would not face up to its costs while President Bush was in office.
Despite their recent discovery of outrage over the national debt, the Republicans followed the advice of Vice-President Dick Cheney.....

Deficits don't matter dontcha know ....at least when there is a republican in White House, didn't matter during Reagan years either. Or daddy bush. Drumbeat over deficits stops and if anyone points out republican deficits it's babies crying that obamas deficit is bigger than ours....wah wah wah.

I think republicans act like they have issues with a lot of things of obamas being iver and better than theirs.

Bush, 8 years, $4.9 Trillion ADDED to the national Debt
Obama , 7 years, with one to go, $8.3 Trillion ADDED to the National Debt

              See the numbers?
              Bush
              Obama
              Do the math.

And with the opinion that the current budget just passed could add another $ 2 trillion , that would be under Obama. He could be responsible for $ 10.3 trillion when he leaves office.
              Liberals can't do math.

                It's not hard to understand.
See right there you expose yourself to the fact you can't interpret the graph you showed. Note, under Bush, even with a war, the deficit was decreasing until the economy blew up at the end of his term. Are you putting the fact that Wall Street blew up the economy all on Bush's shoulders? If so than Obama has to take responsibility for what occurs during his years in office, not play the "It's Bush's fault" game.

They cut and spliced the video to fit their charges. PP has been exonerated of these charges in all 12 states in which they were charged.

But by all means please keep up with your delusional thinking. I find it fascinating how long nutters can hold onto fantasy. Just like my first cousin (a nutter) - he posted a picture of the Columbia student ID for BO that was completely debunked as a photoshop nearly 5 years ago. Despite overwhelming and conclusive evidence that it was a fake (including testimony by the person who actually owned the ID and Columbia that verified that it was not BO's ID) he clings on to the delusion that it is a real ID. I worry about people when they shift from Cognitive Bias to Cognitive Dissonance. It is a sign of an unstable mind. So it is with the PP truthers.....

I also don't get the sanders trump comparison. One is a sitting US senator with decades of public service and the other is a mass media star loudmouth.

I've never hear a sitting us senator called an outsider before. It's very interesting how folks on the right compare trump with sanders when they want to LEGITIMIZE trump.

Meanwhile, the brave brave man apparently can't face down Megan Kelly. He has a very fragile ego. Not strong. Weak.
Trump is not a Republican and certainly not a conservative. Like Democrats were fooled by Obama's "Hope and Change", Republicans are fooled by Trump the showman' "Make America Great Again". And if you can't see that a socialist who didn't become a Democrat until he decided to run for office isn't the same as a Democrat running as a Republican, then you are pretty blind to what's going on politically in this country.

Regardless, even if I believe those figures it is still well below the one trillion ALONE that Obama spent on the not so shovel ready stimulus and the payoffs to unions, cronies and hangers on.

Additionally, had Obama not pulled the plug so fast, we might have been able to save money by not having to go in there. But in the long run, I am sure it would have been better had Saddam , his sons and his henchmen continued to gas , murder and fill the mass graves for years to come. Invade another country from time to time, you know business as usual.

I've "discussed" these not so nuanced budget deficit items with ex lax for years to no avail. The right (wrongly I might add) wants you to look at us budget like family budget. Let's play for a moment.

Obama walked in as the bush recession was taking off. Eight years before bush had inherited surpluses so whatever went on before bush did not stand in the way of surpluses regardless of the incoherent blubbering and finger pointing to past administrations.

Bush ran up debt and then took us to a recession (I should manage as an aside I believe it's the only time a president managed a recession at a time of war). Is it harder to get your family out of debt when you take a giant pay cut? Because that's what bush did to our national family with his recession. The money flowing into the treasury was way down....because of the RECESSION.

If they never understood it before they won't now. They have to get behind a candidate who is scrambling everything they claim to have ever believed in save for the hate of other. Trump has already committed apostasy on taxes and a number of issues but shockingly (to leaders on the right, not me, I've been saying they are motivated by hate of others for years) trump is showing that right never had any binding philosophical ties.

You also haven't heard anyone talk of tort reform either. I guess it's wrong for the little people to use the courts but the oligarchs like trump use our courts for business purposes and that's fine. He's admitted it. Slap suits.

As long as trump hates the right people enough, none ofmthe stuff that conservatives have harped about for decades matters. But we knew that. We knew that they lacked any kind of coherent organizing ideas.

                            what a bunch of nonsense

When the student union considered the question, some students asked, “Does the MLK quote represent us today?” The problem wasn’t so much the message, but the fact that it only focused on racial diversity instead of gender identity.

“Diversity is so much more than race,” said one sophomore architecture major. “Obviously race still plays a big role. But there are people who identify differently in gender and all sorts of things like that.”
