We watched ALOT of games. My D is on the smaller side and technical, she wasn’t going to succeed at a program that plays direct. We talked to coaches about where they saw my D playing and her unique skill set. Coaches don’t want players that don’t fit their style either, I found them to be very transparent. We had questions prepared before we talked so we wouldn’t get sidetracked and were honest with her ability and possible destinations. Do coaches/when will coaches tell you it’s a no? I understand if they just don’t respond but got a couple responses to video (haven’t seen her in person yet) in the vein of “this looks good, please keep in touch.” They clearly aren’t interested in having a call yet but they didn’t ignore her either. Is this just being polite or is there a possibility to sell them on her still? Both programs outside of top 100.Comment

Keep in contact while working other options. We had a west coast program that kept communicating with text and email but we couldn’t nail down a time to speak directly. They were a serious option that my D would have been excited to go to but they just didn’t seem interested enough…at least compared to other programs that were Seriously interested. Ended up gettting an offer before an official visit and, not surprising, it wasn’t as good as other schools. Be honest with yourself, trust your gut, if it doesn’t feel genuine or sincere then you may be their backup plan. Which, btw, is fine if its really where your D wants to go and can be patient.Originally posted by Guest View PostComment

Thank you. One of them she would go to and be thrilled, whether she’s their backup plan or not. I also feel it was one of our best targets for soccer. Hope they can see her live soon. They seem to attend fewer events than some other schools.Originally posted by Guest View PostComment

Rarely. First they want to keep their options open. They don't know for sure who in say their top 10 will work out, accept an offer etc. As someone said your kid could be #11 and it all works out. Usually they will either 1) ghost you 2) drag it out before they finally tell you "we have filled our needs for the class of 20xx". Sometimes your coach might be able to get them to be honest. Also some programs quickly fill their top spots thrn drag their feet with the remainder, knowing they have 20+ other players that would be happy with a spot and a few $.Originally posted by Guest View PostComment

I know players that have heard feedback from ACC coaches that was super positive and they were genuinely wanted and the same player getting bad feedback from Maac schools. The reality is that its a super subjective sport, with little in terms of stats for most positions, and through almost every level you cannot predict whether an unknown coach will like someone or not. Just keep at it and good luck to everyone.Comment

Unless someone was contacted by their clear #1 choice and were blown completely away, not many actually commit. Now that the contact has been made, pre-reads and negotiations will get started, school visits, etc. That's were all but the extreme .001% will be now. We also didn't pop on here and tell everyone about all the activity she got that day. They haven't even been able to have actual conversations or do official visits yet. Would you let your kid commit when they've only talked to a coach once on the phone, not been to the school, spent more time with coach and team members? Coaches aren't going to do the same either.
