I think this is where we are heading.

ECNL, ECNL-R & EDP. All three have a lot to offer. ECNL & R will expand next year and effectively kill GA by taking the 8-10 clubs it wants.

To me, EDP national league would have been a much better alternative than DPL & GA. All of those teams should have thrown in and you’d have a very attractive platform. Problem is the clubs need to sell an “Elite” patch to the families.

To be clear, I prefer the wait and see approach. But here’s another take that’s not so much of a stretch. Last these teams all played, the “top 5” were:

      NEFC
      SSS

      Stars Blue

      Scorpions

      Stars White

Perhaps Stars Blue has closed the small gap between them and the top 2, but they have not overtaken NEFC or SSS. Scorpions is improved but is unlikely to have caught Stars Blue, and Stars White at best caught up to Scorpions. So, they may have all improved, but not enough to change the list.

        List teams:

        1-3 NEFC / Stars Blue / SSS

        4-6 Scorpions / Aztec / Stars White

        Honorable mention

        NEFC B team
        SPOL

The three ECNL teams will look very different this year. Adding 3-4 stronger players could drastically change things. Not only about talent, but it’s about filling holes.

It’s also about time together and being coached/developed. These 3 teams have played literally 1 fall season together.

Yes, makes a huge difference. SSS & NEFC have been together since U10.

They won't be in another year or two

Agreed. DPL & GAL won’t last 2 seasons.

It will last as long as the ECNL keeps pushing all the other clubs out. At some point there needs to be a throwdown and all the clubs need to work together to figure this mess out. HA what am I saying... that will never happen.

They did that. The result: ECNL.

OP here and yes of course GAL won't last. But I was referring to teams holding together. At this age top players bolt for top clubs, and that's only been exacerbated by the failure of GDA and inevitable for GAL. Some players ease off the gas and start to focus on other sports or activities.

Yah DA was an utter disaster. No 2 ways to look at it. Every top club in GAL is desperately looking to get into ECNL. What is the path for the top girls in GAL?

When the best talent is spread around so wildly for various reasons then the ECNL has failed in its ultimate goal. What started out as U15, now has dropped down to U13 (and "pre-ecnl" seriously?). Just don't understand the reasoning...

The path for the GAL player is the same as any other. To play on a team, on a club, in a league, that challenges you and provides you with enjoyment and the opportunity to play as high of a level that is available to you.

                              Don't overthink it.

Furthermore, if the answer was ECNL then why was the DA formed at all? Why would clubs have teams in ECNL AND DA?
