What's the definition of a top club?

    Comment

There is going to be another major reshuffling come late spring 2021 when the ECNL accepts its final 8-10 clubs.

Power? Greed? Elitism? Disdain for HS soccer? Pick your poison. People will obviously disagree but it appears to me that DA was formed, at least on the girls side, because US soccer didn't like the idea that they'd missed the boat a decade ago by ignoring girls youth soccer when they created the boys academy and that club soccer had stepped in and created what had become the national program for top level soccer development/play.

The ones that the most players want to play for.

IMO, it wasnt about power or greed, or an actual disliking of girls playing HS. USSF let themselves be backed into a corner. They were getting called out for having a BDA but not creating a league for girls. Didnt matter that the ECNL already existed. The only way they could say with a straight face that they supported Girls equally to Boys was by having a league run and governed by USSF. Thats why it never worked trying to function with ECNL.

USSF had no choice but to ban HS for girls because thats what they did for boys (at the MLS teams insistence). Cant have two sets of rules by gender because that would be sexist and open them to litigation. So they had to create and run a girls league but they also had to make the girls abide by the same rules.

In the end, it was all about face, PR and avoiding lawsuits. They never really cared about the success of GDA, it was more just doing something to say they did it.

A club that meets your particular family's needs from a training, culture, cost, logistics, and is a challenging environment for your child.

Weird, take out the HS and you just described ECNL.

Question to the GA parents. At what point does the weakness of the league become a deal breaker?

Is it the few remaining top GA clubs getting into ECNL next year (Top Hat, FC Virginia) or is it NEFC & SSS 2007 teams blowing out every GA team they play in the north east all year?

If/when there is an ECNL club that serves the area where we live that makes it feasible to get there, that is a decision that can be made then. As of now, there isn't. We have turned down an ECNL opportunity for that reason.

So, instead, we will continue to not worry about the league name and my daughter will continue to follow the path laid out for her and communicate with the college coaches who have been in contact with her, who are very pleased with where she plays and her progression.

But, I do appreciate your concern. Who knows....maybe more GA players continue to migrate over and displacing ECNL players.

Can't stop, won't stop. Must make sure everyone in the free world knows how great ECNL is, no matter if they like soccer or not.

After I finish up this morning, I'm going to work my way through talking-fishing.com, talking-sewing.com, talking-talking.com to let them know ECNL ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My breaking point is showcase attendance. If very few colleges are showing up at these events then GA is officially a bust. League is fine (yes, ECNL also has week teams) travel is ok but if eyeballs don’t show up its a deal breaker

This is at the top of my list as well. But league games will also be a consideration. Don’t want blowouts every single week.
