MLS will have their own league so DA will be second tier . The MLS teams want better competition . They are not dropping their youth Academy teams they are just dropping DA.

Revs are playing Manu Youth Academy teams this weekend in Westford . Go check it out for yourself.

They are still the top program in this area. My son can't wait !!

Here's the U17 table from the Northeast:

          U-16/17 EAST CONFERENCE
          Rank U-16/17 Northeast Division
          1 Montreal Impact FC U-16/17 [PLAYOFFS 9]
2 Beachside Soccer Club CT U-16/17 [PLAYOFFS 11]
          3 Empire United U-16/17 [PLAYOFFS 17]
4 New York City FC U-16/17 [WILDCARD 9]
          5 FC Westchester U-16/17 [WILDCARD 10]
          6 Oakwood Soccer Club U-16/17 [WILDCARD 11]
          7 BW Gottschee Academy U-16/17
          8 Met Oval U-16/17
          9 New England Revolution U-16/17
          10 Boston Bolts U-16/17
          11 Cedar Stars Academy - Bergen U-16/17
          12 Seacoast United U-16/17
13 New York Soccer Club U-16/17
          14 Arlington Soccer Association U-16/17

Can we have a discussion about second tier? I see 6 "second tier" teams that are above the Revs in the table. It's highly likely the Bolts will pass the Revs this Spring with all the additions of the waivered players over the winter.

I won't even bother with the U15 table. The Revs U15 team couldn't beat the Bolts U15 team if the Bolts played a man down.

Right, there are a couple other conferences in which the first MLS team you come to in the standings is the 4th or 5th team down. There are too many non-MLS teams ranked above MLS teams to say that a league would be more competitive with MLS only teams.

Same as anything else. Country club soccer.

This is great info for one table. MLS clubs are looking at their whole program not one team .
Beachside u16/u17 is the only age group where they have beaten MLS teams. All the other ages are not doing so hot.

                  The options are

                  1) A two tier system with promotion and relegation. Who is in the top tier is based solely on performance. This system might be enough to keep MLS teams in (don'f focus just on the NE. Elsewhere MLS tends to dominate the top half).

                  2) MLS drops out leaving non MLS teams

Problems with 1 & 2 - travel becomes untenable/not enough regular competition. Yes they can schedule non-league games and events but how many quality games can you really get in?

Problem with 1 - It might not be enough for MLS as they also are tired of being told what to do and having to train 88 players out of 90 that will go to college, not go pro

Problem with 2 - losing the pro teams makes it more like any other league but with more restrictions

Cicci Pagano's rating has gone way up on TDS since leaving the Revs Residency Program.

Does every MLS team want out of the DA program? Clearly some teams that grudgingly invest, like the Revs, would be happy to be out. But would a program like NYRB? It's not only a "halo product" that sells all their RDS programs, but an actual money-maker selling home grown like Tyler Adams.

I doubt many would drop out altogether, but it seems many at least want out of BDA. They would probably have fewer teams to lower their costs and focus on the top talent. But they still can't make much from home growns. Nothing will change much until that does but it won'tbe any time soon.

This weekend at GA Cup will be a good test. May be a precursor for how the spring will go for both teams.

If Revs drop DA it will get pretty competitive for spots on other teams next fall.

Until the Revs drop Scales and his pathetic “coaching team” nothing will change.
