The revs U17 and U19 should do better this fall. Many competitors in their conference are much weaker than last year - Bolts, Beachside, Oakwood, FC Westchester are all having trouble recruiting good players

Not sure what you are basing this on? Revs are very young at U17. U19 should be strong but will also be playing U17’s up. All the non-MLS teams utilize older players since they have Pre-Academies and need results to attract players.

Or you need promotion and relegation so there is a consequence to not caring.

Where promotion/relegation is used, there is a soccer pyramid - with healthy lower-division clubs to be promoted, and healthy lower-division leagues for teams to be relegated into...

If I understand, mostly those systems often use transfer fees, (with trickle-down to developing youth clubs) to help fund a broad base...

Not to say it couldn’t be done here, but reminding that conditions are different where pro-rel works.

Personally, I agree MLS teams should have to field or affiliate a D2 team, as is currently the case with USL. I’d suggest that a U23 DA level should be the next requirement - hopefully a D3 or D4 league (as well as a development showcase for Olympic squads) could evolve out of that.

Don’t get me started on NCAA either....

Not a surprise. Everyone involved with the 2002, 2003 and 2004 age groups knows that the Revs have not been attracting the top area talent in those groups for several years now. Players and their families can all see the path the Revs lead to, and as a result, the best players in those age groups are largely now at Bolts/NEFC/GPS/ISL or some combination thereof.

Kids changing, not able to keep up the pace. Others growing into their skills. Everyone else but the duffusses on this site understand puberty changes kids a lot. Some for better, some for worse athletically and mentally.

The only MLS team in NE would be idiots if they didn't choose the top kids every time over trying to develop your slow kid.

If you want to go to ISL - GO! Good luck to you. MLS DA should really focus on having the best players and cutting the rest. You can't possibly have a good DA team with 1/2 the team absent for 1/2 he year, then showing up with dismal habits in the spring. That's totally rooky and the pay to play DAs can get away with it because they can keep the second and sometimes a third NPL string.

Not so for fully funded MLS DA. No Waivers. Ever more. You made your choice. Be happy and stop your pouting.

Revs can't pick talent to save their lives. This isn't about puberty but Revs coaches not having a clue. an entire group of older players shouldn't be eliminated, particularly when rosters tend to favor the older kids to being with

Waivers are usually limited to less than a handful. Many successful DA clubs have waivered kids. In fact kids don't even have to be officially waivered but just get a wink and a nudge that they'll be added once HS is done (the add-on period goes to April). HS is finished in November, not March so you are exaggerating quite a bit.

All sports studies show early developed kids who had an advantage due to speed/size and even technique can be slowed and regressed compared to ones catching up during puberty.

just do your research. Your kid may again regain competitive status if he trains hard enough but others have simply surpassed him by catching up with their biological clock. Be happy where you are. Stop begrudging others
