But you have no idea what it's like playing at that level.

Revs are the Mt. Ida of MLS academies, so yes, try and keep up with UMass Lowell.

Your kid may want to have fun in HS soccer and that's his preference, but to play with the best talent, you got to make sacrifices.

There are only 7 seniors in the 19s. 2 went pro, 3 to Ivy's and the others to D1 schools.

You people have no idea of what it's like to play at that level.
GPS & NEFC NPL teams would beat the Revs. I have seen all play...so get over yourself. More D1 commitments in those teams. Combine the best players of both those two NPL teams and would be without a doubt have an excellent team. You throw in the Bolts Academy which beat the Revs 4-2. Enough said.

A bunch of individuals thrown together from GPS, NEFC and Bolts would probably play more cohesively than a Revs team that's been together for years.

The Revs can't even attract the best kids in MA. Parents of the better players have figured things out by the U14 or U15 years. They know the Revs are about appearances. The commitment of giving up high school sports is no longer commensurate with the return on the investment. I'm not talking about just high school soccer. My son is being recruited for both track and soccer at this point. That wouldn't be possible at the Revs. He's also volunteering and participating in STEM related activities that would not be possible at the Revs. While the Revs claim to build more well rounded soccer players, colleges are looking for more well rounded students. You're doing your child a disservice by monopolizing his time with the Revs commitment.

C'mon now. Lets be a bit more honest with ourselves. There are more than 9 players graduating in 2018. I don't know about 3 Ivy Leaguers either. In fact, one of the Ivy boys played 49 academy games with the Bolts and then just 3 games with the Revs this Spring, AFTER already being committed to Princeton. You kooky Revs parents think throwing out nonsense will impress people. Dig a little deeper and it's evident that the spin machines are working overtime in Foxboro and the #fakenews is on the rise.

Until Revs are residential....not worth it. Look at other residential DAP programs and they are many steps ahead of the Revs.

This is true. Whatever club you are at make sure that your player is able to participate in extra curricular activities outside of soccer! I have a senior this year (not my soccer player), who participated in a lot of extra activities. It is necessary to do so for college admittance. Your "soccer" commitments won't allow you to stand out unless we are talking the very top of pack (ie someone being heavily recruited by D1's). The colleges won't be looking at the fact that you played soccer 12 months out of the year and traveled to this particular tourney when you were a sophomore, etc. They will be looking to see what else you did with your four year HS experience. I have no experience with Revs so this is not club specific... maybe Rev's training is relatively local for you and it works for you. That's great. I'm just saying in general... Make sure that you student athlete is well-rounded outside of the soccer field.

I think it’s pretty funny how 99% of posts on this thread are by non-Revs parents.
I think you should worry about your own choices and not those made by others. Everyone’s situation is different.

I'm the OP of the comment you replied to... I made that all very clear... Admitted not being a Revs family (wasn't pretending to be) and right there in BLACK and WHITE I mention the part about if Revs works for you in terms of commitment level and being able to do extra curriculars then great (and it would go for any other club, DA or otherwise). My only point was to mention to those of you who may have younger players that from experience with my oldest child...Extra curriculars and community involvement, volunteerism, etc. is VERY important in college admissions for most students. That sounds obvious to most, but I think that maybe some parents who have not traveled this road, may be putting all their eggs in one basket with their children thinking that all of their time and commitment should be towards soccer because that child excels at the sport. I'm simply mentioning another side to that. That's all. And btw, I also have an 8th grader (the soccer player) so I'm sorting it all out myself... no illusion that my opinion is the only one or that others will make and should make other choices. It's just an opinion. No need for drama.

Sorry but most of the posts are from a few crazy Revs parents and soon to be ex-Revs.

                              1) Plenty of Revs parents on this thread with the same complaints about the club year in and year out. Nothing changes, just the players churning through the Revs inept system
                              2) Plenty of DA but non-Revs parents as well - are they not allowed to participate on this thread? Is there a rule about participants only can post on this thread? Too bad.
                              3) #2 holds for families considering the Revs or DA. This thread and others are very helpful for families making decisions about participating in the league or specific clubs

I'm one of the parents that didn't make the trip out to Empire last weekend. I won't complain about that. I will complain about everything else. Come find me at Beachside if you want to talk live.
