He doesn’t need the Revs to be a top player.

More like he needs to feel like a top player and Revs wasn't helping.

            16-18yo's

Pulisic stresses how important the 16-18yo years of development are...

Do the Revs invest enough at these age groups? Seems like nothing really changes as a player progresses through their system.

Definitely not. Granted, no DA club does and the US as a whole is entirely lacking vs what happens with 16-22 year old development. But the Revs are very good at acquiring talent then doing little with it.

                Not a Revs problem

"You look at what they’ve built in cities like Portland and Seattle, and what they’re building in places like Atlanta and Cincinnati, and what’s happening with the movement to try to save soccer in Columbus — and it’s inspiring. And I mean, the atmosphere that we had going on that field in Orlando, in that stadium, for our qualifier against Panama … it was unlike anything that I’d ever experienced in the U.S. before. "

What is your point? 80% of MLS teams, including the Revs are status quo. 99% of Revs players are college bound and desire that life. Until these qualifiers s.a. franchises, relegation, going pro and getting the upper crust kids bound for college out of US Soccer, nothing will change. The cities he mentions are on that path. What Revs parent doesn't want their kid to stay white collar?

What talented non-white collar kid can afford to drive 70-100 miles round trip many eves for training? That alone excludes an entire population of soccer talent.

In the Boston area there's not need to stay "white collar." The Revs just don't care about DA (or event the pro team for that matter). To a certain extent I don't blame them - they get very little return because of restrictions on home grown fees. But other cities are making an effort with the pro and academy teams and it's showing. What Atlanta has done in a short amount of time is impressive.

Good for the kid! US soccer is one big incestuous mess. And the revs are a perfect example of that mess. Glad somebody had the guts to call them out.

He calls them out but his soccer career flatlines shortly thereafter. Another one of those that heads to Portugal to pursue dad's dreams. Setubal worked out really well. Bolts player now and barely clinging on for D1 interest in this nutcase.

not exactly "Calling them out". Kid sounds like the real thing and found the nurturing environment. This is exactly what US soccer needs to succeed.

Meireles: When I went to Seacoast, I had just found out was academy was. I wanted to try something new, and when I got there it just didn’t feel like the right environment for me. They’re, to be honest, a lot different than me, and everyone here in Everett is from an urban neighborhood. Then when I was down with the Revs, it was a profesional environment and what not. There were kids similar to me, but I didn’t feel like I could connect with the coaches. Then at the Bolts, Dan is really invested in me and worries about me off the field and at home. At the Revs, I didn’t quite feel that. The Bolts is far more of a personal connection.
