Because those players are walking away from college opportunities for a career that goes nowhere. Not only do they have very few homegrowns but the Revs cannot develop talent to its fullest potential.

Not sure how you can say that when all of the home growns are still playing. Caldwell went to college. I think you are going to see more home grown in the coming years also, US soccer is starting to see value in giving young players a chance.

Jump to Portugal then. None of current Revs players are standouts good enough to play pro.

Rampant posters say Revs don't develop talent. That seems disingenuous. How about this for an alternative. The kids who they select appear to stagnate because: 1) they are selected very early. Early returns are no predictor of future outcome; 2) they and their parents are "owed", which is to say they get a big head and assume all will be given to them; 3) The program itself is neither fish nor fowl. It's *not* a professional team. It's a club. They sacrifice much, including rights. In return they receive a sweet kit and the exact same amount of training (or less) than other kids. It's actually an easier leap to get to that than a simple excuse by frustrated parents saying Revs don't develop.

How about the change I added. You're right - it's all of the above, and they're a pro club almost in name only

spot on. I don't care either way. I'm just sick of the development posts. Maybe it's the developees and not the developers...

It's the fault of the hundreds of players that have been in their system over the years? Sure. Even if true, which it's not, then at a minimum it means Revs flat out suck at identifying talent?

I agree, my kid has developed beyond all expectation at the Revs. They must be doing something right.

Mine too. The Revs are the only game in town.

Between the players leaving for ISL and the coming cuts the teams you see on the field today will have little resemblance to the 2018-19 squads.

You get what you pay for. Your kid must be younger. Give it another year and you'll be contacting prep schools.
