I think alot a people would be surprised at how many
players leave on their own terms.
The question is- what college is he landing at? My belief is, for most boys around here, the college distinction ultimately proves illusory (player presumably got superior training and competition, but could still have landed at the same college without DA), so then it becomes just about saving money. Which is still a darn good reason if you can swing getting to Foxboro, but of course it comes with sacrifices. If the goal is to play D1, almost all boys should play DA, although we'll see where the boys ECNL ultimately shakes out. In my view, boys ECNL is unlikely to change the equation- if you want D1, play DA; if you don't (or aren't going to get there), save your gas $

IMO, JF and MB were the Revs tops prospects and it's perplexing why they are not legitimate members of their respective age group Boys National teams. US Soccer keeps sending token Revs players to "future" camps etc, but never stick in subsequent cycles. JR is the only one that stuck. JF and MB are legitimate soccer talents. Anyone who has ever seen them play, would attest to that.

National team appointments are very political. Those two boys you mention don't have influential dads who have business ties with US Soccer's NY/NJ based mafia. I agree with you though, the only two that should be there.

Actually, MB can easily be an elite three sport athlete but chose soccer for some odd reason. Can easily letter in hockey and baseball. The ISL school he'll be attending has apparently waived the mandatory sport requirements so he can focus on Academy soccer.

Everything offered and given to certain kids on a silver platter. Same old storyline repeats itself.

There are a few good younger players up and coming but the Revs will surely f them up. JF will be back on with his training in Europe- that's a given. MB, probably not.

That's my point, JF was never on the team in any cycle. A camp invite, a futures invite ( whatever that is) and that was it. MB had about 10 NTC invites. They both should be on the actual national teams.

I've never been all that impressed with the schools Revs players get into as a general rule.

None of the "good younger players" are on that level. Everyone but their parents know that.

3 of them are on the national team and there are others who are just as good or better being overlooked

The same old Revs National Team tokens. There have been many in the past. They will not stick through U16.

Too many vowels in their last names. US Soccer is in awe of Mexican American youth soccer players but no other nationality.
