Except many of them are burnout by the time they are 16 or 17. Just ask some of the Scorpions teams. who have been competing since they were 7 or 8. It just becomes same old, same old just as winning and competing really should matter. Ask a college coach if this isn't a problem with a lot of kids coming in.

He wishes to have the same experience with his club soccer team.
And I make no bones about it - I loved every minute of it! I'm glad his team was foucsed on trying to accomplish something.
How old is he and is he still playing baseball?

13 and yes, he still plays baseball...and soccer ... and basketball ... and seems to love them all.

Keeps us busy, that's for sure.

I agree, that is how the tourney is setup. Once and a while a team from one of these "weak" states win regionals and even win national titles. That wouldn't happen with people trying to power rank teams and disregard state champs.

State Champs in name only. In Mass. they would be known as "didn't advance". Some day you can explain why the best players from NH and RI want to play on Mass. teams then.

If it is so easy how could they tie CFC?

There are definitely more club opportunities in Mass but it looks like Seacoast Teams are, for the most part holding their own! Even the U-18 boys who were ravaged by the development academy won their game yesterday.

You must be one of those redsox fans that thinks the world series should be between two American league teams because they're better than the national league...... Catch a clue and I'm sorry your team lost their state cup

Sportsmanship? What you think these teams should not play to their best in these games?
Take it easy on teams that are weaker? Give me a break! They are their to win not go easy!

Your right there is no place for sportsmanship in youth soccer.

That's not what he's saying. He simply is stating the obvious that in a tournament format like Regionals, a team needs to make sure that their goal differential is as good as it can be. It can mean the difference between moving on or going home.

But if Region 1 only counts the 1st 4 goals....why humiliate a team by scoring 10 goals. I would think the coach would pull back at least after 5-6.

They are trying to redeem themselves from two weeks ago. It's confidence building.

Hmm, looks like Albertson won't be there for the final since they lost their first two games, tomorrow's game won't matter for them one way or the other. I think the winner of the Group of Death (McLean or PDA) will be winner of the final.
