they determine where to allocate resources and assess biological threats

2 companies have already sent possible vaccines for additional testing

Vaccines take months and months of testing, then production has to be scaled up and vaccines distributed - and that assume the first tests go well. We're at least a year out from that. In the meantime there are dozens of trials regarding how to TREAT it. Antivirals may show the most promise, but if they work we don't have enough fora widespread outbreak. Those results can be measured in almost real time with actual patients. That buys time and saves lives.

The coronavirus is real and will spread across the world to include US. But small minds are easily manipulated by the media into a frenzy to boost rating and ad revenue. Small minds are easily manipulated by politicians looking to score political points over their rivals.
