The US game is very physical U15+ and just as much in college as well. Small players have a much harder time getting recruited and having an impact. Girls are pretty much done growing by HS while boys can grow through HS and even sometimes even in college. Sure smaller players get recruited and some even find success in college, but large and athletic more often wins the roster spot.

I agree. I've seen this to be true as well. The elite players are usually big and move with the quickness and agility of a player half their size. Some of these girls are deadlifting 250+ at 15 and 16 like it's nothing, and they have the foot skills. The game mimics American tackle football with how aggressive and physical it can be. No chance for a kid that weighs a third of the average girl on the field. Skill is irrelevant; it's physics.

Their heights does not equal small, though. Strength is the important factor.

Height and size doesn't win soccer games as Boston College has continuously shown.

5-4 is average for adult women in the USA in the year 2020. Even that BC roster had 21 out of 23 players at heights above our national average for females.

Exceptional players all but they're also all unicorns. All but Pullisic came up years ago, and more importantly didn't come up in the US system. It is here that big and fast is adored by many clueless US coaches. If Pullisic's dad hadn't guided his career he may not have become thee player he has.

Plus the women are actually a little above average height for females 5'4". They are not "small"

And the male average is 5'9." Being 5'8" isn't exceptionally small but in US soccer it is. The men's NT average height is 6"

Boys in this country prefer football, baseball, basketball and even hockey to soccer. The best athletes in the country gravitate to those sports. There is your reason for that, nothing to do with size moron.

Roasted on what? The whole discussion focused on American coaches liking height. Smaller teams aren't necessarily better either. Look at 2018's WC teams - the US would land between England and South Korea (182.8cm). Not surprisingly the Nordic countries are some of the tallest because they also tend to have taller populations

We have plenty of athletic talented players - we just do a crap job of identifying and developing them. Many athletes gravitate to those sports because they're much more popular (you tend to play sports your friends an family play and follow), those sports have infinitely more well known super stars that kids admire, and they are much more lucrative sports.
