OW mistakenly rostered an extra one girl more than was allowed. CFC protested it and won the protest. OW DQ'd. 100% true.

Thanks for the info! Some of the parents from our team overheard some of the other parents that someone cheated and we didn't know which team it was... we mistakenly thought it was the CFC teams since they had 2 different '06 teams in the tournament. Was surprised the next day when my daughter said she overheard the CFC coach saying it was OW that had an extra player but she didn't catch the entire conversation so we didn't understand what happened. Mistakes happen. Glad it caught up to them but feel sorry for the girls because they played very well.

Sorry, not BS and not 12 on the field, I meant they had someone playing on the field they shouldn't have. Looks like the final game wasn't played either so something definitely happened.

Second game was played. It was during that game that it was noticed that the OW coach was subbing in 8 girls at a time, 19 players total, winner of that game was going to finals vs CFC Sky 06.

Pretty basic soccer rule. 18 players allowed entry into a match.

For a club that manages teams in a league with the most stringent of substitution rules, this is pretty embarrassing. That said, going 19 deep in a tournament game is actually a disadvantage to the team. Probably an innocent mistake by the coach trying to get kids on the field on a holiday weekend. Sounds like Oakwood made it right so a non story in my book. It happens and at higher levels than you’d think

That would be unsurprising. When I used to coach teams indoors at OW, OW would routinely bring players who were not on the team roster if they needed them to win the indoor game. I felt badly for the kids stuck on the bench not playing, kids who were actually on the team. One year we beat them all despite these tactics. That felt very good, to send the house cheaters packing.

Perhaps in ulittle indoor games but not in 11v11 tournaments with specific rules.

The Oakwood coach made a mistake and it sounds like he owned it.

When the top kids get older and play on DA or ECNL, there are match reports that track everything. Coaches have to manage match rosters, re-entry, yellow and red cards. All part of the game. Doesn’t matter if it’s a meaningless u13 tournament game or a national playoff match.

Ok keyboard warrior, who said I was from CFC? Just asking a legit question as my kid plays on one of the other teams and she overheard some rumblings about OW having to forfeit their game against one of the CFC teams. Glad OW owned up to it. Shows quite a bit of integrity unlike some folks that like to hide behind their keyboards and talk crap about other clubs.

I cant believe someone call them on it during a fun tournament with nothing on the line ... just play the games .... it is not an advantage at all unless they kept the extra kid on the field for the entire game .... then just beat her too! What a poor sport.

As an Oakwood parent, I’m glad they forfeited.

There are probably kids on that team smart enough to understand the rules. Where do you draw the arbitrary line in terms of which rules are ok to break in tournament?

Should there be no offside rule because it’s a holiday? How about red cards? Should those be ignored because nothing is on the line. How about if CFC brought a player that was a year too old? I suppose you’d be a good sport about that? C’mon man! Sorry your princess didn’t get the coveted OPI trophy but grow up and have some integrity. Great opportunity for the club to show a group of kids what it’s like to do the right thing

Pathetic to keep insisting I’m a CFC parent. Must have touched a nerve with my legitimate question. You do realize there were a few other teams in that age group, right? Not everyone in this forum has a kid that plays for CFC or OW. As I said in a later post, I feel bad for the OW girls as they played great this weekend and deserved to play in the final match. But you do you and if it helps you sleep better tonight, think what you want.

You'd be the first to bit*h if it was your kid's team at a disadvantage or a rule wasn't followed. The club did the right thing. The rules are the rules. Kids need to know that.
