Let's add that 8th graders shouldn't be traveling that far and missing that much school for a showcase. By and large coaches aren't looking at them yet. They're shopping (from their lists) for HS aged kids. USSF should do regional tournaments for U14s with less costly travel and less missed school.
If you want further evidence of U14s not needing to travel to expensive showcases.....due to poor weather US Soccer has cancelled all U14 games scheduled for today. Tough for the kids. Paid for hotels since Friday and played two soccer games. Total disaster
Why wouldn't they count the coaches since you are saying that all of the coaches have already left?
No, the better question is why would anyone EVER count the number of coaches on the sideline of any game? It’s irrelevant unless you’re marketing the event. What’s relevant is how many coaches talk to your kid or contact them after the event. That’s what should be counted.

It’s just human nature. I’ve been to many showcases with two kids. Typically we’d have parent handing out a team roster with pictures of the kids etc. it’s customary at most showcase events. The club would then a list of all of the coaches that attended. Makes it easy to follow up. What’s the harm in counting them?

I’ve been to several showcase so far as well, I’ve never once thought to count the coaches. There’s no harm in it, I just fail to see the point.
So all these posters are all over talking about travel to Denver, how many college coaches, etc are these the same posters that are checking out the website to find that u14 games cancelled, why do you even care???? To go thru all the trouble of checking out the website and come back to TS to post about it.. must be jealousy

So let me get this straight. You are stating that people are jealous because they weren’t suckered into spending all of that time and money for an 8th grade kid to play (maybe) two U14 soccer games, after which college coaches can’t even reach out to these kids for two years? Read that question again and then try to convince me that you are not gullible and delusional.
Not gullible or delusional, just can’t understand why you care so much about what other people do! Or how they spend their money... who cares, it is everyone’s right to do as they please and how, where or why should be of no concern to anyone.
So your are saying they weren't on the sidelines of the OW game?
The ship has sailed on 2020 kids for D1. Most schools are done shopping.
Out in CO? Most coaches are probably there for players on their opponents teams ... especially if they are playing teams that are from states closer to the showcase. Sure, some east coast or west coast coaches will attend to see players that have already sent them info, but coaches from CA and TX are not coming to OW games to see if they can find that unicorn.
