D2 and D3 is a different animal. Tons of kids get picked up at combined recruiting events, ID clinics and local tournaments. Typically not D1 though.

To each his own. One of mine with a learning disability attended a so called lower level school. It literally was the best place them and they thrived there. Despite their high intelligence they would have struggled to keep pace at some of the schools the Fairfield County crowd scramble to get their kids into. Man the faces I get when the name is mentioned. I could give two sh*ts. But a lot of parents get caught up in the academic arms race and it isn't healthy for students, who take it on their shoulders. see: Varsity Blues as just one example.

So, I said to my kid, "you have no choice but to play at OW. Don't worry, I'll give you all the playing time and bench the other kids. You won't be able to play high school, with your friends ... former friends ... but you'll be a regular on the bench at ECSU."

Are there any clubs out there that do boys only?
And they maintain their not-for-profit status how??

Oakwood’s poster child on the girls side is leaving! If you can’t keep your best players you are in trouble.

Being a non profit has nothing to do with having both genders. That isn't an IRS requirement but there's loads of other rules. Really in youth sports most are non profit in name only. Also, while it's beneficial from a tax standpoint there's tradeoffs with accounting rules and having your 990 open for the world to see. Not many clubs are non profit.
