D2 and D3 is a different animal. Tons of kids get picked up at combined recruiting events, ID clinics and local tournaments. Typically not D1 though.
This area is unique in that there are so many good D3 schools within the average 2-5 hour driving radius many prefer. In other parts of the US D3 schools are not only fewer but are rarely the "name" ones. So then playing D1 or D2 becomes the majority selection. However, other parts of the country place more players in top D1 programs - so is it the chicken or the egg?

If WestConn is your dream school and dream soccer program then that is utterly fantastic. Happy for you. Some aspire higher, some will go lower. To each his own. One of mine with a learning disability attended a so called lower level school. It literally was the best place them and they thrived there. Despite their high intelligence they would have struggled to keep pace at some of the schools the Fairfield County crowd scramble to get their kids into. Man the faces I get when the name is mentioned. I could give two sh*ts. But a lot of parents get caught up in the academic arms race and it isn't healthy for students, who take it on their shoulders. see: Varsity Blues as just one example.

Ow is nobody's tribe. Daddy coaching. Choking down veinless hotdogs. No high school play.

So, I said to my kid, "you have no choice but to play at OW. Don't worry, I'll give you all the playing time and bench the other kids. You won't be able to play high school, with your friends ... former friends ... but you'll be a regular on the bench at ECSU."

Absolutely not. ECSU is a great school. And, their soccer is okay. Any OW player would be lucky to ride the bench there.

agree, chris has consistently done a great job over there against solid programs with local kids.

Are there any clubs out there that do boys only?
And they maintain their not-for-profit status how??

Oakwood’s poster child on the girls side is leaving! If you can’t keep your best players you are in trouble.

BS may be the only decent sized club that is boys only. YU is girls only. off the top of my head I think nearly all others are co-ed. However, I can't think of one club that does both genders well. eg CFC=clearly girls, FSA, OW others are boy-centric.

Being a non profit has nothing to do with having both genders. That isn't an IRS requirement but there's loads of other rules. Really in youth sports most are non profit in name only. Also, while it's beneficial from a tax standpoint there's tradeoffs with accounting rules and having your 990 open for the world to see. Not many clubs are non profit.

She is coming down to CFC 04's. That was the buzz at the scrimmage today amongst the parents. The Mom group isnt happy though.

That CFC team is legit, but not sure why you know who would do that; kid is pampered at OW.
