I can’t stop thinking about how horrible the name Oakwood is for a soccer club. Sounds stupid. It’s a good name for a cul de sac or a country club perhaps, but a soccer club? Nah

Oakwood Gu14 beat Empire by 9 goals this weekend.

This means a group of kids and presumably parents wasted an entire day of their lives on a one side meaningless soccer game. Academy is a complete joke in the Northeast. The joke is on the parents getting snowed by these guys

No reputable league has 9-0 games.

There were many of those last year. OW had some big margin losses at nationals over the summer. The league is very lopsided, especially the NE. Empire is another club that shouldn't have remained in the league - it's much too far from all the other clubs they play and they're just not good at all. If it wasn't for the Empires, LISC, now Alby and Seacoast OW would be at the bottom. Everyone has those teams to beat up on but what do they get from it other than better standings?

9-0 suggests a problem. It isn't in anyone's best interest to be involved in that especially at U14. The fact that it involved a 5 hour car or bus ride further compounds matters. That team would be been better off staying at home to train.

The issue with the Academy is that there are lots of "Empires" around the country but the USSF can't boot them because they don't have enough quality clubs.

Giving up HS sports for this mess is something you should have your head examined over.

They were in NPL A last fall, and were in the right league (some haves, some have-nots). They then dropped to NPL B were there were a lot more have-nots.

Expect it will be the same in every league.

The current ow 14’s are very strong, always have been. They are one of the top 3 teams in New England and have been for 2-3 years. And this year they picked up some studs.
