There's are 165 Boys DAP clubs fielding 620 teams. 165.

Doesn't matter how many MLS teams they add above 28, which I agree they won't stop there, they can't get the coverage without pay to play clubs

There are 29 USL teams some if which are affiliated with MLS teams already. Also NASL is teetering on going away.

Many of your 165 clubs actually are feeder clubs to older age DA teams - they added these junior clubs to cut down on travel. There are currently 76 u16/17 clubs in the DA league (72 clubs at u18/19) -- over time, these will all be sponsored by pro clubs and be free to play. BS will likely lose their older age teams, and simply be a feeder club for NYCFC/Red Bull and NE Revs. In essence, that is how it is working now in that they are moving their best players to the pro teams, leaving them in a difficult spot to compete at the older ages.

Future is: MLS, USL (division 2,3), NASL/NISA (division 2,3) and NPSL (d4). Well over 100 teams already and growing.....

The only thing I will point out is that only two of these players are high school players. Other three are prep players. DAP lost more than two players.

Were they good? i mean the ones they lost or entering the schools of commitments early (Spring) ...seems to be the Norm for many players now so they can get their feet wet with the coaches and get PT in the Fall.

That's a lot of clubs. Even if you focus on the older age groups 110 clubs

the "pro clubs". 28 MLS clubs, 29 USL clubs and 7 NASL clubs. Many of the USL and NASL clubs can barely pay their players let alone offer free DAP

Just to add, there's a lot of illiterate parents out there that think a coach making a cell call means their kid is the best thing since the invention of slice Bread , only to get that wake up call come late August----The fact of the matter is 60-70k a year is big loot no matter how much zeros is on your annual salary.

MLS couldn't afford free DA not long ago either. Don't take a static view of the soccer landscape....things are evolving for the better real fast.

Yeah and all of DAP was supposed to be free too. 10 years in we are still waiting for that

It's called realistic. Love your vision but it's not going to happen. US is too big to be covered by pro teams especially when those pro or non pro teams can't make money from the kids they develop

You don't think the US could eventually support 100 pro clubs across 4 professional divisions?

Also, solidarity payments will be introduced in some form or fashion.

I think there could be 100 pro clubs in the US ... could they support free DAP. No Way past MLS and a small handful of USL teams.

Average weekly attendance in USL which is division 2 was 4300. That's not enough to break even let alone support free DAP

No way they can. Some MLS franchises bit*h about it now. They don't profit from home growns like international clubs do. They won't get more interested unless that changes. As for that many people clubs? Also very unlikely in our lifetimes. It's still the #3 sport and isn't popular enough to support that volume

The best place to develop players is in a pro environment, even if it is only partially subsidized DA.

US parents won't sign their kids over to a club at 16 like they do internationally. When the rest of the world ramps up significantly, our players practice 4x/week for 1.5 hours at a time. Then the go to college, a developmental coma

Our top players don't go to college...Pulisic went to Europe at 16 and if you look at our U17 national team roster, very few are going to college....times are changing.
