Already seeing that on the boys side.
Player development can be more ruthless than pay to play. If your not one ones with the super high ceiling (possible national team) then basically your a well trained tackle dummy. If your in the 25% <50% Start pool you have to ask is the travel and sitting on the bench worth it.
Girls are more complicated because a big chunk of the recruitment in done at younger ages and the end game in college so choosing is more complicated. Also for fall sports girls soccer equivalent is what boys football is socially.
ECNL could go two ways offer a more development minded product at the younger ages. Or just go balls to the walls marketing College showcasing 24/7. It will be interesting to watch.
USSF DAP demands hurt the bottom line of many of the clubs and you see them scramble to make the numbers work (e.g. Beachside, even Oakwood now with girls and younger boys teams.)
The product GDAP is trying to making is not what most college coaches are looking for. Of course top 2-3 players on GDAP and ECNL team are what everyone wants but then further down the line ECNL is deeper in the typical college material.
Maybe college coaches will change the way they shop but I don't expect that to change quickly. I also don't expect the USSF to suddenly cater to college coaches.
p.s BS does and will continue to do every dirty trick in the book to hold on to it's players.
