normally at least half up to 2/3 won't make the cut. So then BS will try and keep them by offering a "pre academy" spot with zero guarantees you'll make the DA team the next year. The writing is on the wall at that point. Sure maybe you'll make it, but is it worth taking the risk? Go play high level club elsewhere and enjoy HS ball. DA clubs and USSF don't care about kids who can't make the older team cut. But the club sure would like to keep their money.

What do you mean “normally”? How long have you been tracking it to notice a trend?

A big move might happen - club running out of fields. Trinity HS property in discussions to be sold.

That doesn't do anything for BS. It's one field and still a part of the HS property which if the diocese sold (see below) would likely either be bought out by another school or re-developed. BS couldn't afford that nut. Land in Stamford isn't cheap.

I realize that there is limited supply in Fairfield county. But why is it that all other clubs (Revolution, Viza, CFC, Rush, Shoreline, even Pythons) plus all the town travel clubs seem to have plenty of access to fields. I know BS wants a facility that serves as an HQ but beyond that with the size of their club they should have superior bargaining power vs some of the smaller clubs.

It's all about management and will power. Everton or whatever they're called now also has a long term relationship with All Saints and other local fields, YU has St Joes. You make it happen when it's a priority

BS really isn’t a large club at all (no girls anymore either). Why would they have “superior bargaining power” based on their size?

Relative to the other clubs mentioned they are big. Between BS juniors, premier, DA, etc., they have a lot of teams that need practice and game fields. MK also runs several town programs (Westport, Greenwich) and one would think he would have some sway in those towns.

BS is loathed in many towns, that's part of the problem.
