Honestly they may be better off as renters for the time being. Cost wise they are for sure - no mortgage, insurance, maintenance. They also shouldn't do some half azzed facility as it makes them look even more foolish. Get their sh$t together, prove they're worth to their customers from a coaching/development standpoint and try again in a year or two.

Socks or water bottle.....sounds trivial.
But isn't there a life lesson here? If this were a high school game, the player would not even be allowed to play, for not having the right socks. The water bottle would be no problem with the refs....lol.
Why should their not be a consequence for failing to prepare a proper game bag? What happens when he fails to prepare his briefcase for that big meeting and leaves critical papers behind?
It's the little things that seem big when we are young that teach us how to be better when we are older and these things matter more and have serious consequence.
I learned this when I was a kid in sports and saw it later when I was in the military. I learned that if you don't remember to shut something off or put up a safety net or turn the valve the wrong way....people die.
I would rather learn that lesson over a pair of socks than something far more consequential.

And here's the real flaw to the "regional" club world and the world of premier or elite soccer in general.......it all depends on talent.
We talk so much about development, but what makes these clubs at the top of the pyramid successful is their ability to pull and keep the best players.
What we are seeing here with BS is kind of what we saw when the elite club tsunami really got moving and drained the town based and district based programs of their best talent.
Someone gets upset, antsy, angry or just sees greener grass and leaves. A talented person. Well, now his buddy decides to go as well and then the next guy too. Suddenly, everyone looks to be jumping the ship and of course, that's what everyone tries to do. Some find success elsewhere because they are the real deal and some find a truth they didn't think possible.
But the bleeding club can't close the wound.
And what makes all this possible?
Pay to Play

^^^ what makes it all possible? Parents WILLING to pay. They're partly to blame for the madness. Precious Emma can't be on a top team? Oh, there's another top team she can play on over there. It costs more? No worries. I'm sure it will pay back with a full college scholarship!

So here's the deal, I will pay them and they should earn that pay by developing my player and providing him a healthy environment to play in. Period.
Let me worry about instilling values, virtue, discipline and responsibility.
I don't need someone who lies every time he opens his mouth and has issues keeping his junk in his pants teaching my kid valuable life lessons. Thanks.

Above made me laugh. I can yell at my own kids for wearing the wrong socks for free. I pay coaches to teach soccer. Plus, do you want BS coach values?

If this was a high school game they would take socks from the bench warmer
PS. Not many have brief cases and papers. It's google docs in the cloud. Problem solved

I'm talking about the larger values here and if you don't think your kid's teachers, coaches and other adult mentors aren't in the process of doing this to your kid now, then you are not paying much attention.
And in the end, the responsibility to develop your kid, lies first and foremost with your kid.
