Bolts and GPS are better options for parents that have money to throw.
For those kids that want to play pro in the U.S or go abroad then Revs is the best option.
The difference is that the Revs are free and they will play at the better venues than GPS.
We have no complaints about our son's playing time, coaches or experience with the team. He loves the trips on the bus , staying at nice hotels and playing with wjat he considers
the best players in this area.
He gets evaluated each game and has regular meeting with his head coach. He knows where he falls in the team and what he needs to work on .We never received this type of feedback at his previous club.

I’m glad your son is happy and enjoying himself. As a parent, though, you need to do what’s best for him. Currently you aren’t. You can tell me I’m wrong, give the old “you do you” trope, but my side of the argument has dozens of examples where leaving Revs early benefitted players and staying longer killed development. I’m sure you’re situation is different.

His kid is fine on the Revs for now, won't be going pro, so let him enjoy it for a couple of years. Saying he's not doing what's best for his kid is a little extreme, the Revs aren't going to completely ruin the kid short term. They'll figure it out when the time comes and make the adjustments then. Kids that age just love the thought of playing for a "pro" organization, plus they get some extra tournaments playing against other MLS clubs, get preference for u-little NT camps, etc. Let the kid enjoy it for a bit.

Funniest thing on Revs thread I've seen in a while. Not going to go into the ignorance of the "go abroad" statement.....but in fairness the IDEA is that to play pro you should be in an MLS academy. It certainly isn't the REALITY of the Revs. The Revs are last on the list.

1. You need good grades and SAT/ACT scores
2. Don't set your sites too high. The top soccer schools want NT players and international players (18 year olds don't compete well against 21 year olds)
3. You need to be very proactive in seeking out college coaches
4. You need to be an athletic player (college games have very different substitution rules).
5. Cast a wide net for schools with several "safety" schools for you to practice talking to coaches.
6. Go to several ID camps between sophomore and junior years.
I will say playing for DA team exposes the kids to what the demands of D1 college athlete are going to be with travel, practice eating into school and socializing time.
I don't think the Rev's organization is to blame for the commit rate. Part of that is the 1999 and 2000 class was strong and back filling with 2001's was tough. Also many of the current u19 just don't have the grades or aren't planning on college.
