Revs want to constantly compare themselves to Bolts and Seacoast (who did beat them as someone noted earlier) to make themselves look better....but when you get out in the MLS world not really king of the hill anymore.

No skin in the game but curious. How does a player get chosen to attend and once they are there how do they stay. Do coaches recommend players or are they scouted and chosen various games or tournaments? Once in camp do coaches no longer have a say?

In other words Mr Just curious, you're hoping your kid will be selected. He won't be, don't worry.

Realistically only one of those 6 kids has a chance to make the cut for the pool of 50. That u14 team is weak.

There are only 10 of the 24 MLS teams represented in the u17 pool. It’s hard to get on the BNT from a numbers perspective, and it’s probably guaranteed that most of them were great players before they joined their academies. Academies move some kids along, but none of them can take full credit for a kids success. No MLS Academy will be able to compete with the European academies. The level of play, challenge, and competition simply isn’t there, if the MLS wants to create top players, they’ll need to think outside the box.

Ha, don’t even have a son playing. I was really curious, but that’s ok. I expected that

It is really eye opening the way they start to funnel 160 kids down to 20. Point is that the Revs aren’t doing it.
Honestly I think we need to think inside the box. Copy the Europeans. It works for them. We need to relegate underperforming teams and pay clubs for developing talent.

New England is not doing it. Same goes with ODP or Id2

Look around Philly area and you will see better clubs who develop and then these kids get picked up by MLS academies.

Too many Brits in our NE system teaching our kids crap soccer . Go to NJ , NY and Pennsylvania and you see more diversity in the coaching staff of the better clubs.

Um, England have an exciting, skillful group of youngsters making up their national team, which is now up to number 4 in the rankings. Plenty more young kids in the pipeline too. Should be exciting to watch over the next couple of years. The problem is more about the culture and talent pool in the US, not just the coaching. In England, the kids live and breathe soccer. It’s part of the fabric of their culture. It’s not that way here.
