The OPL was started by a group of initially well intention-ed club DOC's, they gutted the OYSA of nearly all their member clubs and put the (OYSA) operation on the brink of extinction.
Then with OYSA at death's doorstep, Gavin re-branded a bunch of former OYSA now OPL clubs 'Timbers' Alliance, he asked them to move back to the OYSA and they did.
Then can the masterstroke, he moved the soon to be unemployed MS & EL over to Peregrine and kept them running OYSA's ODP/RTC/Cups & Leagues and to sweeten his deal he threw in the Timbers Kiddie camps ,ostensibly becoming a shell corporation running from Providence Park.
Guess what, It worked!!
OPL crumbled and a few clubs hung in for a few more years, during those horrific final years they had no choice but to wave the white flag to Gavin and rejoin the OYSA, but as a parting gift two of the clubs couldn't stomach the move back to OYSA and instead joined the US Club girls league, despite having a talent pool of girls that would be better suited in Div 2 of the OYSA. US Club Soccer devastated with the collapse of the OPL (another US Club league), gladly accepted their cash even with their lack of player & coaching quality. (US Club Con at it's best)
Fast forward another year or so and US Soccer rejects THUSC (CU) application to the DA and instead awards a DA to the NWSL Thorns for Oregon. Thorns DA is born (present day).
Gavin/Peregrine let the clubs divide themselves and he pulled off the coup of century with the ability to become the defacto OYSA.
While the (2) most butt sore clubs instead took revenge on the innocent clueless parents and had them fund travel across the country, for s#hits and giggles.
It's awesome, really.

The OPL was a trainwreck and GW seized the moment. It happened, it's over and most of the OPL hangers on became little DA clubs, which they never thought possible.
There is no such thing as a dominant oregon girls club, true a pair of then were doormats prior to the nationwide DA starting.

Gavin was part of the OPC first (Eastside FC).

He flip-flopped all the time. When he first came to town, as the new THUSC DOC, he also signed up as an OYSA ODP coach. Then he started recruited ODP girls away from their clubs to play for THUSC, including Bend, FC Portland, and Westside, and other clubs, who filed complaints with OYSA. Tom was also one of the USYS Region IV reps AND US Soccer scouts for the youth national teams, so it was a bit problematic for OYSA. (Plus, OYSA didn't put up much of a fight. They did things like that all the time. A bit too smug.)
Next, he did the THUSC +LOSC=CU bit and applied for ECNL. Of course he gave up his spot at USYSA and was elected to US Club Soccer BOD West Region (which sanctions the ECNL). Before the newer THUSC board terminated his contract, he did apply for CU into the GDA. Had he succeeded, none of this GDA-trashing would be happening now.

This 4 to 5 team travel group, isn't even considered a 'club' by definition and is nowhere near the best club in Oregon from u8 to u19.
That's not a con, it's borders on disgraceful.
Why would anyone make families travel out of the state when they aren't even a club or the best teams in little Oregon, let alone the PNW?

And, yes, they do meet the definition of a "club", otherwise they wouldn't be allowed into the Elite "Clubs" National League. Sorry your Thornz Asylum isn't considered a "club" and your teams are only marginally better than Burlingame who had to fold half way through the season.
That's why THUSC had to register a now former CU team under their 'club' umbrella just so they could play state cup. They won it at u13g but over 50% of the starters left for the DA which is perhaps the biggest reveal of the insane con job.
The DA Thorns & Timbers are both not Oregon clubs per say, both are not eligible for USYS or US Club or ODP league/competition. They each can only play in US Soccer's DA platform based on their association with a Professional team (NWSL Thorns & MLS Timbers) US Soccer granted them this distinction.
THUSC is your mommy & daddy not US Soccer. Tool.
If they were a club CU club, this team would be going to Hawaii with a different name than THUSC. Really who cares about facts and reality. The dream of being Elite is fueled by a sick process of travelling all over the country, full fare !!! to play other 'dreamers' some of which are actually clubs, unlike CU. Jus Sayin. Insult to Injury.
