A little history lesson for you.

The group that started OPL started the soccer division in Oregon.

Peregrine came in to help OYSA stay relevant. OYSA and OPL are old news now.

Then came ECNL.

Peregrine started the Thorns Academy as another option for girls currently in non ECNL clubs.

Not sure what you mean by Peregrine was doing divide and conquer..... the response from Peregrine has always been more on the reactive side to support their side from losing players which is part of the reason why their end product has not been great.

Not worth responding to this selective memory, other than to remind that a certain cast of characters at Peregrine and Westside have been involved in every division in Oregon soccer over the last 10 years, except ECNL.

That includes the founding of OPL. When Westside and Peregrine couldn't control it, they fought to kill it. They won. Doesn't mean might = right.

Except all of this is lies. Tobin doesn't know how to coach and is never there. They train in Gresham as the Eastside Thorns. Everybody gets free tickets just by buying gas.

The OPL was started by a group of initially well intention-ed club DOC's, they gutted the OYSA of nearly all their member clubs and put the (OYSA) operation on the brink of extinction.

Then with OYSA at death's doorstep, Gavin re-branded a bunch of former OYSA now OPL clubs 'Timbers' Alliance, he asked them to move back to the OYSA and they did.

Then can the masterstroke, he moved the soon to be unemployed MS & EL over to Peregrine and kept them running OYSA's ODP/RTC/Cups & Leagues and to sweeten his deal he threw in the Timbers Kiddie camps ,ostensibly becoming a shell corporation running from Providence Park.

Guess what, It worked!!

OPL crumbled and a few clubs hung in for a few more years, during those horrific final years they had no choice but to wave the white flag to Gavin and rejoin the OYSA, but as a parting gift two of the clubs couldn't stomach the move back to OYSA and instead joined the US Club girls league, despite having a talent pool of girls that would be better suited in Div 2 of the OYSA. US Club Soccer devastated with the collapse of the OPL (another US Club league), gladly accepted their cash even with their lack of player & coaching quality. (US Club Con at it's best)

Fast forward another year or so and US Soccer rejects THUSC (CU) application to the DA and instead awards a DA to the NWSL Thorns for Oregon. Thorns DA is born (present day).

Gavin/Peregrine let the clubs divide themselves and he pulled off the coup of century with the ability to become the defacto OYSA.

While the (2) most butt sore clubs instead took revenge on the innocent clueless parents and had them fund travel across the country, for s#hits and giggles.

It's awesome, really.

Once again the tired narrative that this is on the ECNL clubs . . . does Westside/Eastside agree with what has gone done in OYSA?

And if anyone thinks we are better off having OYSA run by the Timbers, then they haven't been paying attention. Ask your DOC how they feel about it -- and that includes the DOCs at the Alliance clubs.

But if you think for some reason that excuses what many of you coaches are now...

I can tell you that a lot of the coaching names that were known for coaching back in the day are now seen as senior citizens who are known now for phoning it in and dusty old coaching habits that make you look mediocre...

Understand, not OP, but at the time of exodous from the skeleton OPL remains these (2) clubs were not in position or placement to declare themselves any better than n OYSA d2 team. They only played against themselves for a couple of years in isolation. The point being this move was a leap into a travel abyss for the girls and parents. Are they any better today? Still unknown. Way too sensitive my friend.
