ECNL is the premier league on the girl's side.

You did lose some credibility in your statement when you said US Club soccer is the new controller soccer body in this country.

US club is like the USFL and US Youth Soccer is the NFL.

Man, remember when Herschel Walker signed with the USFL? That was super cool...for about 5 minutes. Anyhow, he was the fa-shizzle at Georgia.

It's not all that elite in Oregon, according to people who were at tryouts.

It would have been elite if Herschel Walker was there. Imagine that dude as your Center Back. Fuhgetaboutit!

It's like that movie called Semi-Pro with Will Ferrell. It's Semi-Elite. From now on it's SECNL.

You lost all credibility when you said US Youth Soccer is the NFL. The only thing NFL about US Youth Soccer are the linebackers they have in the back field to boot the ball the distance of the field for the forwards to get lucky on a put back. US Club Soccer is by far the fastes growing and the most quality soccer in this country.

We agree somewhat on the question of goals but disagree on the targets. The U of O and OSU are Pac 12 schools and they are not going to take any local talent that is not at the very top of the local pool therefore unless those players are in the national pool or ECNL it is unlikely GOING FORWARD that they will select players that are not in one or the other.
Interesting, my DD has two Pac 12 offers and never once put on an ECNL jersey. I can't imagine the love she would get if we sewed ECNL onto the sleeves.

I was not referencing the style of play, but the size and history of the league. The NFL is still around.

Since the ECNL is only 5 years old and she did not have that opportunity in the worlds of Donald Rumsfeld "you don't know what you don't know".

That point is that the landscape of girls competitive soccer is changings and changing fast. Nobody has said the best of our best would not get their offers but somehow when we write that the offers they will get from participating in the ECNL will be more diverse or for bigger percentages you IGNORE that completely.

Additionally, when you read that the participation in the ECNL makes them a better player and prepares them to be more successful at the next level because the ECNL better approximates what they will experience at the next level you ignore that too.

It really doesn't matter for a parent like you because you have your invite to the party but it does matter to all of those who follow because the process has changed and for the bulk of the players the "old" system is shrinking the opportunities.

So you can continue to hitch up the horse to the buggy and ride into town or you can buy that new fangled horseless carriage and get there faster and not have to smell the political sh*t along the way.

So in this new world order, the recruiters will only go to ECNL teams and recruit? Gee Tom, did you really say that?

And she did have an opportunity to play ECNL. You must not be good at math. Her competition for spots is coming from ECNL girls, and she's getting the spots over her ECNL counterparts. That kind of blows your entire theory there doesn't it. I still can't wait to see this ECNL magic wand that turns every player into an all star and every coach into the soccer equivilent of John Wooden. The ECNL salesmen keep telling us this, but they have yet to show us this magic wand.

What would be interesting to see is the data that shows what % of ECNL players get college scholarships (or even spots) vs the % of non-ECNL players that get the same thing.

It will likely be a higher percentage, but not a higher number if ECNL breaks down like the development academy did. There are more non-academy players moving on to college programs than academy players but maybe not a higher percentage.

                              Hold on there fella.

You are stating things with no backup. Please show us that ECNL players, by mere virtue of them being on ECNL, get more diverese and better offers. You seem to think ECNL makes gold out of iron.

It may make you a better player. However, if your ECNL team sucks, which I suspect many of the PDX ones will, then you aren't going to show well to these recruiters and I'm not sure how much development will occur by being pushed back into your own defensive 1/3. I've seen my kid's teams beat other teams 5-0, 6-0, 10-0... and I don't think that did anything for the other team's development. I will not be surprised to see some of the PDX ECNL teams getting those types of beat downs.

Simply check the rosters of the top 20 programs and you will see that a growing percentage of recruits have ECNL on their resume. Given the quality and depth of the players in the league you will see this right on down the line in each division.

That does NOT mean that you have to play in the ECNL to play for those programs are even get a scholarship just that a GROWING number of the best payers are playing for those teams.
