The coaching at the pre-ECNL clubs will get better. Sputtering now but will fix hopefully.

Soccer playing kids who live outside Portland are not "bottom feeders." Salem, Bend, Eugene, Corvallis, Medford etc. are great communities with well run soccer clubs who serve their families well. And yes some Portland clubs have very good programs too (FC Portland, Lake Oswego/Crossfire...) but the list is short. Happy to have a more unified state league and hopefully a true state cup this year. Let's encourage our kids to work hard and compete with the best. Labeling clubs "top" or "bottom" based on geography or affiliation is sick.

Label them however you want. Truth is that TA clubs are bottom feeders.

Exactly! Please STOP treating all Timbers clubs as if they are one, and as if they are worthless, not every family can drive to Portland for soccer, there is a world outside of the PDX area.

                The exact opposite actually.

Not much of one once all the top Pdx area girls start migrating to ECNL. Several of the best players from the outlying areas do make the long drive (a few even do discovery w/Seattle ECNL) in order to be as challenged & competitive as they can be. That's why you never hear of a PDX player driving to Eugene/Bend/Salem, etc even to play on a good team. The migration is all one direction for a reason. The Pdx clubs themselves aren't necessarily better but the population is bigger and so they have many more of the top players.

PDX also has a many more crappy players too. I know you think your dd is one of the top players, but an objective observer will likely have a much different opinion.

There lies the hilarious contradiction of the Timbers "alliance".

Thought you all shared the same philosophy, ideas, tactics, curriculum, parent organization?
                      What a joke.

Of course they do. More top elite players, more average players & more low level players. There is a best fit team for everyone. Only the outlying elite players are willing & able to travel to get their best fit. One of my kids is average, the other elite. The elite one wants to travel to play in PDX but, unfortunately, we simply can't manage that time and expense.
